I am always a bit split on Daft Punk. Over the years they have provided us with consistent and good tunes but only a few outstanding tracks.
I don't think they were innovators in new sounds but they certainly found their style and stuck to it well. As for being overrated? Tough question on one side I don't think their music has always been outstanding, especially if you put them up against the real big boys such as The Prodigy, Chemical Brothers, Leftfield etc but you can't dispute their world wide success and have been round a long long time performing at that level so they are obvious doing something very right. |

I think I agree on this. Personally I just liked Faithless, Underworld and The Prodigy a lot more. |

| One thing I've noticed after just listening to Da Funk again.. what a ing incredible kick drum and snare, the drum kits Daft Punk create are absolutely perfect. |

the first track Daftendirekt is the best track on the album, but too bad it abruptly ends at 2:44 to make a transition to the next track. DP is wack. |

Yeah they are complete e.
As well as the prodigy, fat boy slim, orbital, etc.
Just never got into any of their sound.
People who tell me they paved the way for modern music can off too.
The music sucks. |

That's actually both Thomas & Guy-Man playing there. And they aren't using turntables, they're actually using drum-machines and what-not to recreate their album music. Just like they did for Alive 1997. :) |

They are huge, so what? I fail to enjoy Abba, Queen, The Beatles, Elvis or most other over played and over hyped crap. Success != Good.
In my opinion their music ing sucks. Go get a reach around if you disagree.
Orbital did one tune I liked, One Perfect Sunrise and even that was outclassed by a bootleg remix.
Paul Hartnoll did make a superb track with patchwork guilt though, that I did enjoy. |
