2010 DJ MAG Top 100 DJ Poll - Always makes for interesting conversation ;) (pg. 5)

But Quazar thats the thing. Like I mentioned, people who vote in this (the very few since most votes are agency votes) are those who go with producers. Since there is no dj poll vs producer poll, people dump it into one. Many killer producers are djs, or are drunk during their sets, etc. But since this poll is about one thing only, popularity, I vote expressing music I enjoy and not the dj. For me, its about hoping the top 10 djs (from this poll) play the tracks of the djs i select - if they get higher up in the poll. Thats the only thing i see with this poll. Popularity. Raise it, and you help go toward a new trend - or the same trend, etc. Basically, promoters see this list, use it on the masses in promoting the booking (x is y on the dj mag poll) and thus the more famous djs will want to play more of those producer's tracks, or spin a style more like a certain dj.
Anways, thats how I see it. And if Deadmau5's agent votes him up to number 1 id be pretty pissed. So dont want that style to take over and blend into the others. But thats my taste.
My guess (not what i want):
Armin (still)
Deadmau5
David Guetta
Tiesto
Markus Schulz
Paul Van Dyk
Gareth Emery
Ferry Corsten
Sander Van Doorn

| I don't think Deadmau5 will be ranked that high. I think if anything, he's losing a popularity. But what the do I know :/ |

| Rather see the Mau5 as number one than Guetta. |

Not me.
Guetta is one of the most down to earth nicest guy you will ever meet. He loves interacting with his fans because he appreciates us. |

My opinion is not because of personality wise but more of what they're playing/producing. Indeed Guetta is a cool dude as I have met him plenty of times. If this was 2004/2005 I would deff pick Guetta.
Party on! |

| Guetta is merging commercial hip hop with EDM and I don't like it. Times they are a changing. |

It may be irrelevant to those of us who are very knowledgeable about the music. However, it is highly regarded as a basis for commanding larger paychecks for subsequent DJ gigs. Hence the popularity contest. |

Whether people hate this poll, love it, whatever, the fact remains it's important and if you do have djs that you like it would be smart to vote for them IMO.
It might be smart to not vote for the favs so they are less popular and $$$ as well. LOL |

my top 4 are all playing labor day weekend in vegas.
Robbie Rivera
Kaskade
Fedde Le Grand
Eddie Halliwell
if it went down to "Dj'ing" Eddie would be hands down #1. they should change it to top 100 laptop manipulators.:p |

right again man, I guess I would rather see Armin than Guetta or Deadhouse5. My biggest beef with merging EDM with hip hop is way it brings in the egocentric and aggressive attitude that hip hop is know for into a scene that seems to welcome everyone except attitudes. But what do I know.. someone vote for lil john. :P
edit: oh and the music sucks.

Well, you might be right. I've always voted for DJs rather than producers, but I forget that when I think of "Tiesto" it's stuff like Summerbreeze and ISoS4. When other people think "Tiesto", they think of Just Be and Kaleidoscope.
Ferry, however, has always been great at both, so he'd be my number 1 no matter what. :-)
I can't re-vote, but if I had to pick top 5 producers right now, in no particular order:
Ferry Corsten
Arnej
Roger Shah/Sunlounger
Breakfast
Cosmic Gate
It's hard to pick just 5. :( |
