Here's another. It seems like a "legit" fraud.

What's worse is a decent programmer could write a script to defraud this "contest".

Fixed.

Thats why a lot of these things are rigged and "fixed."

its actually pretty simple to do. i can get an app going using 10minutemail.com and ip switching and it would do the voting and confirmation link all while switching ip.

better hurry then, there's only 13 hours left to bid for the $930 job

no time to set it up but hell anyone can do so manually as well. it takes more time that way but still pretty simple using the same method. You just arent creating a bot app that handles it all - you just do it manually.

Someone take it who has time. Use an IP switcher and proxy/tor and use 10minutemail for the confirmation. Enjoy the moneyz. My bet - its DjLuxor. Man is so epic pcs crash when people vote for him so he wants a contractor to create a method that masks his god-like power.

wow this is pretty damn disappointing. hopefully djmag implements some system to catch these people, or at least most of them. i mean, they might not catch if a&b do it but if suddenly there are a million votes for DJ Brohan from turkmenistan that would hopefully not be credited.

At the above comment -
well thats why agents who are good at what they do takes a few years figuring it out. Not sure if djmag notifies you of your position if you did not make top 100, but in general, agents play around to make a low top 100 figure for new artists. Then they hope that picks up their artists for a few gigs. Then stick with that for the next year guessing to move up or down a little - till you release a full cd. With that, you then vote for yourself some more to make a higher rating - though not too high - and you go from there. Basically the goal for agents is not to push for top 10 or even top 50 for artists but in general - for those not massive pull djs - to keep them steady in the poll at least.

But again, in general you should still vote if want to get someone you like a higher spot - as this will get their style of music more playtime with other djs as well. My take on this is voting helps with keeping the genre and style of dj you like.

I have these arguments with my close friends all the time. A DJ and a producer are 2 different things however when it comes to electronic dance music generally they go hand in hand. I know that everyone has there reasons for why they vote for certain people but I think it should always boil down to the persons talent as a DJ and not a producer since from what I understand the whole point of the poll is for the DJs who are voted higher are to be offered more gigs in more locations through out the world. Not more production opportunities with more record labels through out the industry.

I vote specifically based on live performances from DJs who have inspired or motivated me in some way through out the past year. Like someone said about JOC earlier in this thread. He has great productions but his stage presence is an eye soar. I feel the same way about George Acosta. The guy has really done great things with progressive house / trance over the past year but when it comes to seeing him live I'd rather sit at home and listen to him in my room.

With that said I don't believe that voting for a Producer is going to make the DJs play that producers music more. I trust that the DJs who are providing amazing live sets know what they like and what they are going to play. I don't think for one second that they are going to look at the DJMag Top 100 poll and say to themselves, "Hey you know... It looks like this producer ranked pretty high this last year. Maybe I should play some of his music in my sets now". I doubt that ever happens.

Anyways... I can talk about this all day, though I feel it's a waste of time. I just wanted to post my thoughts.

It may not be difficult to submit fradulent votes but it is VERY difficult to have those submissions count.... a few votes will obviously get through but when you're used to seeing certain patterns in data then the anomalies REALLY stand out.

For example, a popular DJ or someone who mails out to a massive list may cause an influx of votes in a short time frame and then its back to the normal # of votes per day. However, if someone completeply unknown dj does the same thing then that makes you wonder wtf? I caught a few cheaters last year and some of them were stupid with how they did it. I contacted them after the results were in to let them know they weren't going to be on the list (or in some cases I just removed those votes). I'd go into further detail but I'd end up giving away what causes certain triggers.

Wont point out names but again - its all rigged by artist's own agents. Something like 65 percent of the votes are by the agencies. Everyone who made the list had his/her agent have a hand in getting there. The user votes just help in determining what position if lower or higher than what the agent expected with their estimate number of votes.

I do it for 2 reasons:

1) Support the DJs I actually think did something that year or the ones I truly enjoyed throughout the year.

2) For my free track of course. lol.

My top 5 for anyone who still cared:

1) Laidback Luke
Say what you wish about him as a producer, he is hands down the most fun and enjoyable show I've ever been to and is honestly one of the coolest deejays I have the pleasure of knowing. Luke's affirmed style of blending tracks in live mash-up style as well as promptly tearing up the dance floor with a little turntablism bring life back into the bland climate of club circuit for me.

2) Leon Bolier
On the cusp of his second album now, Leon's a force to be reckoned up. Over the last 4 years Leon's been producing a fury of dance floor rockers that still err to the musical side of EDM. None of that is why I voted for him. From his yearmix to the show's I've gotten the pleasure to stream live, leon's been impressing me from week to week with his track selections.

3) Solarstone
If you don't know who this is, you obviously have missed out on some of the biggest tunes over the last 10 years of EDM. That being said, Rich Mowatt, now the sole owner of the guise, just released a new album and has been streaming madness all year on his and Robbie Nelson's radio show. On top of clips from his 'Touchstone' release party, his live and radio sets offer an infusion of sounds that span all sorts of genres. A mainstay over the years for me.

4) John B
I know, I know... WTH right? Wrong. john B's quickly aspired to the top of my acts to watch since catching him at my first EDC. His podcast offers both studio and live mixes and John's ability to blend DnB and Electro/progressive sounds is something I really do respect. This past year I've heard him play house sets and DnB sets and he's done well at both sounds. Seriously, try his sound out if you aren't a big fan of DnB becuase his ElectroStep sounds might just change you. Acts in DnB are trying to follow the sound he was playing 3 to 4 years ago.

5) Afrojack
Yep, my new kid on the block and the marker that made me not vote for a Top 20 this year. Afrojack's production skills are tearing it up, but again, that's not why I'm voting for him. His Essential mix offered a sound I've been rooting for on the radio, and his set at EDC sealed the vote for me. Aside from that, his sets from WMC and other large events that were streamed were equally fun to listen to. Thanks for the fun Afrojack, you made me a voter for you!
