I'm pretty furious myself. I think it's really shady, inconsiderate and a low blow move for them to promote that The Martinez Brothers would play "early." A lot of people had events that they were planning to attend afterwards and as a result this party was in their best interest since we'd assume TMB wouldn't start at 10:00 pm latest if they had a 2.5-3 hour set. We totally got ed over. I have reason to believe that this was done on purpose. Not disclosing set times is enough proof for me. This looks really bad on the promoters. I had to miss a few hours of Luke Fair! Not only that, but by the time TMB came on it was just before 1 am and they had lowered the volume levels to more than half way. It was low enough to barely be able to hear the bass and thus have no desire to dance. I tried moving closer to the front, but it just wasn't enough. It's a shame really, because I was enjoying what I could make out from what they were playing. It's expected that at some point later in the night, a noise complaint could be made so WHY would they get TMB to play last?! Unbelievable. I peaced out and Luke and Add2Basket saved my night.

It's unfortunate because they night had a lot of potential that got flushed away in an instant. Loved the venue, location, crowd, and the tunes all night were great. I don't know if I want to attend another party if it's going to be falsely promoted and I'm going to be conned.

wow..i know how hard it is to make you not like the night, i agree with not disclosing set times, that's some bull.. but i can imagine why they would not let them play before, probably 80% of all the people would peace it after they were done so they didn't want to lose the crowd..

I totally agree with Cribby.

I wanted an earlier in the afternoon event as well but I believe I read something about scheduling conflicts so I'll let that slide...

We got there around 9:45, not many people in yet but the tunes were really good deeep house to open. I thought the opening DJs did a fantastic job. They really set the night and mood off and from 10-12 it picked up a lot and everyone was having a good time. SOOOOO many joints being passed around, lol loved it.

Then 12 rolls around and even though it's a great party atmosphere, PERFECT weather, we all started to get antsy and impatient! We in came for Martinez Brothers so WHERE ARE THEY????? First one of the promoters said "12am" THEN "12:30am" ... ing bull!! :whip: Don't lie if you're not sure, it's just gonna make me even more upset.

FINALLY they come on shortly after 1am .... then a 10 min MC mic introduction which really threw me over the edge! If they're going to be late as as it is, DONT WASTE MORE TIME BY GIVING THEM AN INTRO. We know who they are and that's why we came to sunnyside...now let them play!

........

......
...

AND it doesn't end there...they dropped the volume levels to HALF of what the openers played at. So there you have it, TMB played GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD tunes like Docks, but how can you ing enjoy it or dance to it if you can barely hear it and can't even feel the bass.

Seriously I gave them 25 min and still no increase in volume. We left in a fury and I can safely say I will NEVER ever attend another Pat Boogie event.

fair point not wanting to lose the crowd, but you still have the money for everyone who paid to go see the Martinez Brothers...

Happy with my decision not to go as they would have been the reason I was attending; and I was planning on going and heading to Footwork by midnight.

+1 friend

I'm not sure if I will attend any, but I DEF won't be if there is another event that night that interests me more

like Cribby pointed out, I was also growing increasingly irritated with all the "big ups" and promoter chit chat when all they need to do is get their ass into fear

They didn't want to lose a crowd and at the same time wanted attendance by lying about the "early set." If they told the truth I'm sure 1/3 of the people wouldn't attend. That's disrespectful and shady and should not be tolerated by anyone, especially if we're paying $25 to get in. We already paid at the door so why would they care if people left early? Oh that's right!.. by having people stay longer so that they can buy their overpriced beer. ;)

For a promotion company who's been around for ages, this was unexpected..

So who was more interested in the art found alongside the walls than the martinez brothers?

ive had two bad weekends in a row now. i hope this next weekend in beachclub/montreal will make up for everything...
