Pat really handed the negative feedback well. Some of these complaints are valid but most seem like whining. Sunnyside is a great venue, but a nightmare to work with.

This thread is giving me a good laugh.
Some of the comments and whining are just too funny.
People need to realize how many stupid and out of control factors promoters have to deal with when doing and planning an event.
Pat is a great promoter and he is not in the business to screw anyone for profit. Actually i am sure he does these event because he loves the music and wants to showcase his favorite sound.
Do you guys actually think that the promoters wanted to turn down the music and not stick with what they had planned.
sometimes happens and you have to go with the flow and work around it. Maybe when some of you start organizing events yourself youll see how hard it is to work with venues and such....especially Sunnyside.
just be positive that we even have parties like this in toronto and yes they sometimes dont go exacly as planned but alteast parties like this happen.
everyone that i talked too said it was one of the best sunnysides ever. |

honestly, this is exactly how the promoter should NOT react to negative reviews, and I was worried Pat would take that stance too, but thankfully he didn't
it's funny how customer complaints are whining - to me it just sounds that you're sticking to a fellow promoter
I'm never the first to complaint about the party, but this time I felt dissatifised and proceeded to voice my concerns in the review thread - just like anyone should
promoters should be taking a note of that, and not act all smartypants and arrogant about negative feedback - just like Pat did, and kuddos to him |

I'm actually shocked about all of the negative reviews. |
as am I ... personally I had a great night and I don't have any complaints with the actual party.
The only thing that sucked about the night for me was the traffic getting into the venue. I never thought it would have been that bad. I wish I could go see Dennis Ferrer on Labour Day weekend but unfortunately that will be a no go for me. |

Thanks for taking the time out to reply as I appreciate your comments. One thing that really bothers me is this:

i was not deliberately deceiving people out of greed so please don't make it sound that way. I am not that kind of person and I try to conduct my business with honesty and integrity. |
which I think is null because you lied deliberately and said:

- I had to make a decision. Advertise that the Gardiner Expressway shut down on the night of our event, OR, simply, encourage people to arrive early. I have a feeling that if I chose option #1 it would have had a very negative effect on ticket sales and my hopes for a successful Anniversary event.
- We decided that the best way to approach the promtion of this event was to just encourage people to arrive early. |
I think this is unacceptable and unethical. To "encourage" people to arrive early and say that TMB were playing early and lie about it is shady. I understand that you need to make target but this isn't the way to do it. I would rather take my chances and tell the truth then to deliberately lie and have a bad reputation because of people's complaints. You can't expect to pull a stunt like this and not have people voice their feedback. I don't think I'm out of line here or "whining." |

Be it as it may, but as far as I remember, you have never lied about set times and deejay appearances. When a deejay cancelled you have notified everyone right away. If you read through this thread, Pat Boogie deliberately lied for self benefit. |

I was initially pretty annoyed about the lack of set times being disclosed but it actually worked out really well for me...walked in 20 min before TMB came on, found a cozy spot near the front and enjoyed the show! I also got my drink on prior to going so I wasn't affected by the overpriced drinks ;)
The venue was wicked.. the weather was perfect...The sparklers were a nice touch....The volume was ok (for once I felt like my heart wasn't pounding against my ribs), and the crowd was awesome! Overall (asides from the traffic situation) I had a great night. |

come on cribby
if platform was to do a day time event at sunnyside they would not disclose set times either, it's not a club and with a day party it is very difficult to set up exact set times as many factors come into play with many djs.. sunnyside is notorious for ing promoters over trust me, it is a nice venue but to throw an event there is very difficult.. few days before the event they may announce that there may be some concert during the day cutting down the hours that the promoter has already assigned to someone to play or use that time to setup all the equipment etc. I'm sure originally TMB were supposed to be on earlier as i remmeber the party was supposed to start around 2 but then now the party starts at like 7-8. Then gardiner get's shutdown and then the music get's turned down by the club and everyone still manages to have a good times, even though he may have "lied" about the times i think at the end he still managed to have a pretty good event looking at those pictures.
Kristina, you may not know a lot of those local deep house dj's and you do not want to hear them but some of them are bigger than some of your local techno/trance dj that play here on a regular basis. TMB play the same type of music so i don't know why you did not have a good time. |

I'm finding it a bit funny people complain about TOTA reviews being all about kissing ass and every partying being "the best party they've ever been to." But the second anyone gives any negative feedback, people jump on them. That being said, there's definitely a difference between people just bitching about the party, and those who are trying to offer constructive criticism.
I didn't go to this party, so I can't actually make any comments on it, but I just thought that was humorous. |
