I've seen some of the studies coming out on this as well...
Apparently, the "running shoes" that we have grown accustom to over the last few decades could be the culprit for the many biomechanical injuries (ankle, knee, hip issues) that people are suffering from due to the emphasis put on sole, and specifically heel cushioning.
I've been seeing more of these around, especially with the REI/outdoorsy types. They're pretty cool.
