i like the sound of this "new research" :)
I'm at 2 cups a day...I avoided coffee for the most part of my life but gave in during grad school when I needed to stay awake to study and diet coke just wasn't cutting it...now I'm hooked...I tried to switch to tea a few times but I just couldn't get into it...plus I figured tea also had caffeine so that sorta defeated the purpose... switching to decaf seemed to help out more...I was fooled by the taste and didn't seem to suffer from headaches for some reason... |

I switched exclusively to green tea about 2.5 months ago. ty for a week or two, but I don't miss coffee now.
smoothies > juices
why eliminate the fibre intake by juicing things?
just eat whatever veggies you're juicing and make smoothies with the fruit. it keeps the sugar intake down too since you tend to use more qty of stuff to make juice than you otherwise would eat.
you can pack a balanced meal into a smoothie too.
just my opinion... |

So do I. Funny how the placebo affect worked for you. :p |

Day 2 no caffeine. Feels worse than day 1. Great.
I am sooooooooooOOOOOOOOO grumpy!
I don't know how people drink vegetable juices. Last night I tried one from Fresh that sounded the LEAST appalling, and I could not get through half of it. |

When I was pulling 9am-11pm library shifts in my last year of university, I was drinking 2-3 coffees per day (Timmies coffee too because that was the only thing available, lol). This was more because it was hard to keep my mind alert for that long.
When I started working at my current job I was drinking 2-3 per day for about a month because they have beans from my favourite cafe (Te Aro), and a high end latte machine that sits directly behind me, lol. This was more because of taste, but I stopped drinking more than one per day because I find if I drink more than one I feel really anxious/off for the rest of the day.
I don't think I was ever addicted because I rarely drink coffee on weekends and cutting down my coffee intake from 3 cups per day to 1 cup a day had barely any effect (except being groggy in the afternoon for a couple of days after cutting down).
I enjoy my morning coffee and I don't think I'll ever quit. |

disagree, you do not have to eliminate fibre, that's why i suggested only juicing 2 things. carrots and apples (green preferably), that is the only thing you need to juice, first one for huge assortment of vitamins calcium copper magnesium etc and second for iron and other vitamins.
you cannot possibly force yourself to eat 3 huge carrots throughout the day as it has a lot of pulp and barely any juice.
all other fruits/vegetables should be consumed as normal throughout the day for your daily fibre. |

TOTALLY with you on this one. The texture is so much better too. Even if it's one of the lighter smoothies that aren't as thick. |

| I highly recommend taking maca root. You can buy it in many health & food stores (quite cheap) and is a natural way of getting over your hurdle. It is always said to be used specifically for increasing sexual desire but don't be mislead; this herb is very good for you and will give you the necessary energy. |

lol @ maca root
I think I crossed the chasm today! Around midafternoon, I started to be able to think almost as clearly as I was used to (the last two days have been a total fog). Tonight I sweat through an absolutely crazy hot yoga class and feel great!
In addition to coffee, I've been staying away from sugar (including fruit sugar), alcohol (at least during the week til I commit to a proper 3 week detox in Sept), wheat (eating rice and quinoa instead) and dairy (except probiotic yogurt). It's been a rather unpleasant week. |

I drink coffee when I'm in school... I'll have 2-3 per day when I'm studying, but in the summer, I'll have one here and there.. and it's a lot less for the fact to wake me up, I enjoy a good cup of coffee once in a while.
I find that if you honestly wanna stay alert, Tims coffee, as gross as it is, is so powerful.. I get wired after drinking a large its rediculous. |
