^^nope.
Im not a cold-hearted biotch. I cringe at terrible war pics. I think you missed the point of me explaining the difference between the pics being something that is shocking and unexpected....and the pics being something that makes your heart sink.
True, pics like those are humiliating and terrible, but they dont SHOCK me or cause me to go into a frenzy, because there are a million other instances exactly like them......People who are going into a state of madness over a girl taking a picture next to her enemy clearly have not accepted what really goes on in war, because there is far worse happening out there. |

Its negative in a sense that these are very inappropriate pictures to post on your Facebook account. Disrespectful, I think. Wouldnt it be humiliating and demeaning to you and your privacy/standing if you were the one who was blindfolded and some prison guard took a photo for her Facebook picture, and wrote some awesome comment on it? How would you feel? For Muslims especially, photos like that are extremely humiliating, and you can imagine why it is angering them. Respect, dignity and honour is very important in their culture.
These photos also give rise to all kinds of angry opinions and flameful commentaries. | that's what i thought you were getting at, and i agree with you |

Whose right is it to take the pictures in the first place? It's not professional army conduct. Even if she did 'detain the enemy', you have to take into account that if you get arrested in Palestine, you're guilty until proven innocent (in most cases). As hardcore trancer said, if this was to be the other way around, there would definitely be a lot more negative publicity surrounding the issue.
Nothing new.. A huge proportion of IDF soldiers take pride in humiliating Palestinians. They're officially ordered to hassle Palestinians at checkpoints, enforce curfews, close business for foolish reasons, supervise you while you pray, attack aid ships.. the list goes on.. Why not take a picture while they're at it? Even if it's a picture with a dead body. After all, it's quite an accomplishment hunting down those evil terrorists.. regardless of their age, innocence, right to self protection etc.. Collective punishment at its best.

On a similar note, there was plenty of controversy last year over t-shirts printed by IDF soldiers containing images such as the one below. This one clearly explains itself. You can find other pics here - Sky News Pictures.

Islamists have filmed plenty of scenes with captured Americans, including their executions, complete with blindfolding, bending on the knees, etc. etc. etc. = i.e. much worse scenes and gruesome than those by that girl. But you dont see any Muslims in arms about it, hardly. Americans deserve it, right?

Islam is a religion, the IDF is a military force. Don't confuse the two.
Any professional soldier would be outraged at conduct like this, regardless of what side committed it. There's some downright nasty happening in occupied Palestine, but there's a level of decorum expected and it wasn't present here. Her and her direct superiors should be courtmartialed just like in any other army. |

somebody posting their life on facebook.
WOW WHAT A SHOCKER!!!
except this person happens to be a soldier.
Inappropriate? maybe. Shocking? hardly. Im more shocked that 15 year old girls post pics in their underwear to be honest. When you are a soldier, it is your life. And just like anyone else, some will post what they are doing. Again, im not saying its appropriate. But its hardly shocking.
Where are the threads about the Canadian who is locked up in iran sentenced to death for allegedly being a spy?
Want to see shocking? Google Daniel Pearl beheading video. Now thats shocking and disgusting.
A soldier in front of captured prisoners in blindfolds? not so much |
