Its not an excuse. But it explains why you would see this in a conscripted army more than a voluntary one like ours. And it explains why i dont think its that shocking to see. No doubt its inappropriate but people are making a mountain out of a molehill for political purposes which should offend anyone of sound sensibility. |

SciTechno, you post too much, very dangerous stuff too ... my advice to you is to very carefully think before you post, cover all the angles - you have to be ready to be able to respond to all possible answers to it, and I noticed people have been feasting on you here, and you are partially to blame for it because you just led them to it.

Privately, some Muslims (mostly those in Western countries) would disagree with the violent activities of the Islamists and the hatred of the West (including such indoctrination of their children), but publicly, very few Muslims would dare question their religion and/or culture. Many Muslims in those Islamic countries publicly publish, promote and disseminate the kind of hating materials and display the kind of animousity that we cant even think of doing to them in return, because they would have a huge fit about it and call us racist and such. However, on the other hand, when a couple of Palestinians are merely blindfolded and some dumb Jewish chic take a pic of herself with them in background, its a huge outcry. Striking, isn't it?

Islamist is a "politically correct" way to describe radical Muslims, instead of labeling them as terrorists, whose goals include campaign against foreigners, Western values, democracy/freedom, women's rights, America, etc - i.e. to promote strict values of Islam, using jihad (the right to wage war against enemy as per the holy book) and other methods of force.
We only call them terrorists when they are associated with internationally recognized and accepted as terrorist groups such as Al-Qaeda, hence their goals are more than just local. |

OK so you are on record then as supporting the death or threats of death towards someone for posting a picture. That to me is shocking, not the picture.
You also seem to support the suppression of freedom of expression. And remember, freedom of expression means that people will disagree with you. (some more than others) |

Sure the picture is completely distasteful and offensive. Also, In saying it's a bit unprofessional and understanding how it may anger and have certain people overreact (death threads etc) is understandable as well.
He's just saying he'd understand why a load of Muslims would be pissed off about it and would get why they'd have death threats.
Doesn't mean he supports or endorses such behaviour. |

i asked the question specifically and that was his answer. So unless he clarifies, that answer to me seems to support the notion that she deserves what she gets. |
