Would you rather I changed it to a Muslim hating Isreal???
Same different pile...

It would be equally as stupid; since neither Arabs or Iranians are exclusively Muslim. |

BTW in israel, army service is a requirement BY LAW for 2 years. So serving there is not so much about professionalism per se. To young israelis its like going to school. Its different from countries like here where service is voluntary and is a career.
So is it really that shocking for them to document it like everyone else documents life? |

But you dont see any Muslims in arms about it, hardly. Americans deserve it, right?
|
May i ask, how many Muslim conferences, seminars, social gatherings, forums and/or rallies have you attended to conclude that statement ? |

Hey whats with the anger?what did us evil persians and "Arabs" ever do to you to cause this coming out of your mouth?
Do you really believe being an Arab and being Persian is the same? How so? Clearly you haven’t opened a history book ever in your life. |

Oh wow an uneducated redneck who thinks Iranians are Arabs. There's a shock... |
While I would agree that VDub is an ignorant moron, calling him a redneck is as bad or worse than him calling an Iranian an Arab. |

somebody posting their life on facebook.
WOW WHAT A SHOCKER!!!
except this person happens to be a soldier.
Inappropriate? maybe. Shocking? hardly. Im more shocked that 15 year old girls post pics in their underwear to be honest. When you are a soldier, it is your life. And just like anyone else, some will post what they are doing. Again, im not saying its appropriate. But its hardly shocking.
Where are the threads about the Canadian who is locked up in iran sentenced to death for allegedly being a spy?
Want to see shocking? Google Daniel Pearl beheading video. Now thats shocking and disgusting.
A soldier in front of captured prisoners in blindfolds? not so much |
Exactly. |

I always try and avoid political discussions, especially on here, because I hate politics, and I think we're all on TA for a different reason.
Just to clarify some facts - In Israel, the service in the army is indeed mandatory as Jay said. The minimum is 2 years for girls, 3 years for guys. Again, depending on what you do, some do more, but that's the very minimum.
Israelis grow up knowing that once they turn 18, they will be recruited. It's not exactly like going to school because A) we know it's not going to be as easy. B) we expect it to be a life-changing experience, as it usually turns out to be. C) we know that in many cases we are gonna be forced to mature over night and deal with some really hard situations. BUT what Jay is trying to say is right, it's def an integral part of our lives there. We grow up with it and almost all of us go through it... Some Israelis are happy to serve their country, others perhaps would rather skip it and go relax on a beach in Thailand haha.
Bottom line is, just as there are good/bad or better/worse people here... It's the same everywhere else in the world. This girl is obviously stupid and maybe she's not such a good person, but I've bumped into such people all around the world... The actions may be different, but the conclusion is the same. This is life, and the reality is that not everything/everyone on this planet is good/pink/lovely - whatever you wanna call it. |
