I could only listen to half of the examples as I was already getting bored. What's even more ridiculous is that there is some guy that thinks certain artists are copying off of each other. These melody are so simple, it is extremely easy to make near or completely identical melodies. Here's the vid:

The caption for this video reads: "Please, producers, be original! Stop stealing unique melodies!"
I stopped sifting through beatport trance releases a long time ago.

I've been saying this for ages - a lot of modern trance doesn't have a melody. None of the songs in that youtube video have melodies - they are slow arpeggio patterns - broken up chord progressions. Not melodies.
Think of a song like "Happy Birthday to You" - that's a melody. You hum that and most people would recognise it (as long as you can hum in tune).
Hum a chopped up chord progression and most people won't be able to pick the song.
I love melodies, but sometimes an arpeggio pattern works just fine too. You don't have to be able to write a melody to create an effective trance tune. |

need to write an uplifting song maker and have it anchored to spit out a tune in Cmaj.
oh maybe include a function to change it the key to F and G but leave that to a later stage in development...dont want to get too technical now. |
