There's music that is more "right" than others? |

i think mad for brad and I deserve all the votes. Oakenfold plays my music, and Brad hates Oakenfold.
Simple enough. Now get to voting. |
ah ha!
conflict of interest! I knew there had to be some reason why you would say he was an ok human being. Whats with the voting ? I've seen my name a few times which makes me wonder this is for biggest TA ass. I can't comment on biggest ass but nicest ass would definitely be Cryo. djRann a close second. |

Have always thought he was an OK human being. I've followed his career for over a decade, met him on several occasions, have spoken on the phone with him, etc. I wouldn't say were friends or anything but if he walked into a place to eat and I was there he'd come say hi.
He has personally never done anything wrong to me, but I had a chance to work with him and Kenneth Thomas completely stabbed me in the back. He had his assistant print out a thread I posted around 2005 calling Oakey a washed up coke head. Oakey read that...and....we'll just say the next conversation wasn't entirely friendly. He's over it though. He doesn't hold grudges I guess and really is a nice guy these days. I think having his kid really changed him. |

people do change. I would have to see it for myself. My personal experience left me with a hard to shake caricature of someone that has no talent, an unwarranted sense of entitlement and a vicious drug habit that compounded his already egotistical pathetic and sad set of mannerisms. You can tell a lot how someone treats the people that don't matter.
People like him that love music that don't have the talent for it should be patrons of art, not self propagating phoneys propelled by a team of ghost writers. He was extremely selfish, did nothing except push his own success and I just have no respect with what he did and what he could of done in his position. He has absolutely no artistic integrity. He never did and he never will. |

Couldn't agree with this statement more. Also, you can tell a mans character by how well he treats those who can't help themselves.
But back to Oakey. He's had such a wild life that there are so many rumors and half truths out there about them. The guy has dabbled with everything, and people think because he did coke for a few years that he'll always be a coke head. They couldn't be more wrong.
I know he used to be a little confident who thought he was god, but he got over himself and I guarantee regrets his behavior. Every encounter I've had with him, either by phone or in person over the last 3 years has been genuine and professional. Good example would be when he asked me what I do. I told him I was a nurse and he said he had a great amount of respect for the work I do and then said "I'm just a guy in the music business" - Even after reading that post about me calling him a coke head in 2005, he still wasn't yelling at me or anything. I had sent him a very enticing business proposal that he wanted to move forward with, and he was more disappointed than anything (Not really angry). I will admit he did rub it in by saying "I was about to offer you a job....BUT"...I probably heard that 3 or 4 times which was gut wrenching, but live and learn. I tried to explain it was from 2005, but I don't think he understood it and didn't care when it was written. He probably thought it was something very public when in reality it's probably on page 400 in one of these forums.
Despite all this, he still supports my label and my music. Still puts me on his VIP guest list plus however many people I want to bring for the shows I decide to go to (Rain was excellent) and is still friendly when he has time to talk. - Most people, especially in Oakey's shoes, wouldn't ever have anything to do with me.
Again, I think it was having a child that changed him. Back in the early 2000's he had a serious alcohol problem and started dabbling with coke and his lack of good music and mixes showed it. Lately he's picked it up but his focus is signing a cross over a band (he says he wants to sign the next beatles, but who the doesnt) that makes it big, commercial dance, and film film film. I guess he thinks film is where his future is if he plans to maintain his high dollar lifestyle. |
