Way to miss the point. In a world so bombarded with cynicism/pessimism/negativity, a story like this is just what people need to remind them of what man is capable of. I think many would agree that there isn't enough media coverage of stories like this. |
very true and well stated.
we need positivity like this once and while |

Micheal Moore was on Larry King last night and brought up a very good point...
He asked how Chile could figure out a way to rescue 33 men from that far underground in only a couple of months but the US and England couldn't plug a stupid 7" pipe leaking all of that oil...
Priorities... |

If that is true, that is the lamest thing I have every heard. Like those guys need ing iPods. Maybe an iPad would be better but still. These people wanted their families not a ing lame gadget. |
I agree. Plus, if anything, I'd want an iPad. |

That's not a very good point at all. A mine and an oil well are kind of different. |

Plus, there are many organizations that specialize in drilling big holes in the earth with all the required equipment already available; whereas, there are no organizations that specialize in plugging oil leaks under thousands of feet of ocean. |

They are both problems to be solved...
Simple as that... |

The story about the miner whose baby was born while he was trapped was very touching. I like that they named her Esperanza instead of Carolina

Actually, they are still married apparently but have been seperated for a couple of years and he now lives with this girl. So not as awkward as the press is making it out to be unfortunately! |
Not surprised the media twisted this story, trying to create some drama out of it.....

Apparently they were trapped for 2 weeks before anyone even noticed. |
It's not that their disappearance went unnoticed, but coworkers and supervisors initially believed the 33 miners most likely died during the collapse ... they obviously wanted to make sure though, so that's why they were continuously drilling holes in attempts of finding survivors. |

Are you seriously coming back to me with that???
I'm talking about the ability of our engineers in solving engineering problems...
You're comparing a broken nail to world peace... |
