Ummm... k?
Not sure what other people are rambling on about, but my point was, the more positivity we encounter, the more we use pathways in our brain that support positivity, and therefore, make us happier/more positive people.
I just think a lot of people could stand to apply this logic and make an effort to bring positive elements into their lives. There are a lot of miserable s (please see c0r for examples), who surround themselves with negativity, which just perpetuates their misery.
However, like JP said, people who are pessimistic by nature are probably not going to see the benefit in this.

Also... "energy" may not be the right word to use, but I think people know what I mean by it. Perhaps influences would be a better alternative.

The reason why this thread quickly went astray is because, even though your point is back up by cognitive behavioural therapies in general, pseudo-scientific literature such as the stuff from "What the Bleep do we know" and "The Secret" reduce this otherwise innocent idea to an outrageous and absurd exaggeration with bizarre metaphysical implications.

I'm an optimist, don't get me wrong, but the "benefits" of this existentio-mysticism are so pernicious I reckon you'd better just become a laborious optimist and ditch the unhinged metaphysics.

I only included Emoto's work because it was what sparked the idea to post the thread, not that I believe in it (which I already stated). I just thought that the take home message itself was valuable, and Emoto's work, whether it is true or not, does a good job of driving home the fact that our choices do impact the way we feel, in a way that most people aren't really cognizant of.

And that's what I'm criticising, mainly.
Besides, The Secret reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally gets me riled up because I'm surrounded by people that went mental because of it :p

I've always thought of "What the Bleep do we know" as "The Secret 1.5", sorry for lumping them together without making it explicit :p

I have been a believer of "garbage in, garbage out" for a long time; it's one of the major reasons I stopped watching TV. I wont watch violent/horror movies and I avoid the news for the most part.
this could go some way to explain the development of your bull pathways.
