Aw :( I feel so bad for you! Trust your TAs next time and log in when in doubt, I was home all night and got reports of everything all night long, lol, could've helped you there. The burners' party was by far the best choice last night, I sent rudeflame there when he called about Blk|Market and I'm sure he had a lot of fun, the burners can throw a damn good party. |
I'm taking your number down before I go out on New Years haha..

I think at least guidos have a good time, get sloppy drunk, say funny , go home with girls. I think "having a good time" is frowned upon by hipsters. But they spend hours taking faux-candid action-pose photos with high quality cameras that makes the party look INSANE on whatever blog or magazine it's featured on the next day..
| quote: | | Was Bamboo in Hells Kitchen? That's hilarious :haha:, although I'm sure it wasn't for you when your night was turning to .. |
Nah, I thought it was hilarious, the people I were with had enough by that point though, so we went home.. "Bamboo" was a sushi bar on 39th street between 5th and Madison.. The few people there were all having a good time and surprisingly, the music was top-notch.. After a few vocal classics, whoever was playing threw in some real dirty up to par with what I was expecting at Blk Market. The topless snow angel guy was great though, I really can't say I've seen someone as ed up as he was ever and I've been going out for some years! haha.. |

| I'm surprised the blkmarket guys havent issued an apology or explanation or something. Not like them, maybe it'll come tomorrow. There are a lot of angry people out there... |

I'll PM you my number :) I'll look for you on FB too, it's weird we haven't met yet!
Never trust a hipster party, they're lame and don't know how to party ;) Although there are a lot of hipsters @ blk|market, you can always avoid them, and that's the beauty of blk|market. Some other techno parties with hipsters, I avoid them like the plague (like Lubaland that got raided a couple of months ago and the cops arrested like 40 ppl), or W+L which can be fun, but not always (so elitist @ door, I hate that, Paco Osuna himself had to walk me and some DC ladies in one time because the door guy didn't know who we were and didn't want to let us in, even if we paid!).

Not to defend T+F or anything, but a lot of you know the risk that comes with going to an illegal party, you buy tickets at your own risk, that's why I never buy tix in advance, this was going to happen sooner or later and Blk|Market still have to pay the DJs, venue, staff, etc. I knew that and chose not to go. Would be nice if they gave refunds to the ones that bought tix in advance, although I doubt they will refund people who paid at the door since that's kind of impossible to track.
There are so many negative things that come with big party nights that sometimes it's better to go with an unlikely choice. Also, so many parties have been shut down lately and so many people have gotten arrested in the past few weeks, why risk it? Elections are on Tuesday and I wouldn't be surprised if that's the reason why all of this is happening. Let's just hope things go back to normal in a few weeks. |

Yeah I know. The problem I have is if it was moved, they didn't really communicate it too well. I mean I don't know anyone that went. Kinda sucks my group spent $100+ on tickets to go to a party that didn't happen. It's just been pretty shady, they haven't said anything and have been deleting negative comments off facebook all day. They shouldn't sell advance tickets if this is gonna happen. They would avoid all of this. I love blkmarket and T&F, but dam, can we at least get out money back? lol |

Word of mouth is how the new location got announced. Did you really expect them to publically announce it?
As stated there is a risk of these parties getting shut down... it is part of the risk you take. You being part of the party is YOUR choice.
If you want something more legit than go to Pacha.
I will defend T&F because they do a great job at keeping the techno scene alive and exciting in NYC.
I do find it sad that the NYPD don't realize that there are much bigger problems out there than some techno in a warehouse.
The other thing with advanced tickets are that they usually have $15 early bird tickets. It hurts less if something happens. |

id like to defend them as well but the truth of the matter, and bigger picture here, is the people & their safety...u have at least 200-300 ppl in a warehouse..what if something goes wrong, a fire perhaps? not to mention there isnt much ventilation in these places, only ONE door to exit bc i havent seen more then that. now given this scenario...if youve seen & experienced the line jsut to get into these parties, imagine how it would be if tragedy falls- not very pretty and def not something the nightlife of nyc needs..
it would only set an example why places such as twilo/arc close down and, also make it that harder for places like D36 to open up. |

I beg to differ. These places are shipping warehouses, storage warehouses, freight houses, there are dozens of ways to get out of these places if something like that happened, sometimes all you have to do is raise the 3 or 4 loading doors. Sure, it's not up to par with what the fire chief would legally require if you were opening a club, but my point here is that it's not the fire chief shutting theses parties down. It's the cops because it sounds great in the newspaper that they are shutting down a "warehouse party" where drugs and loud techno music are going wild. It sounds like they're doing their jobs.. |

It would be really ty if something did happen but again it is a risk you know going into the event. The location on Saturday has a huge garage door at the back of the warehouse.
While it is unfortunate that the party got shut down I just don't see how people act like victims when they knew there was a risk it would be shut down.
If you don't want to take the risks avoid their events.
You still have choice and free will. . |
