id like to defend them as well but the truth of the matter, and bigger picture here, is the people & their safety...u have at least 200-300 ppl in a warehouse..what if something goes wrong, a fire perhaps? not to mention there isnt much ventilation in these places, only ONE door to exit bc i havent seen more then that. now given this scenario...if youve seen & experienced the line jsut to get into these parties, imagine how it would be if tragedy falls- not very pretty and def not something the nightlife of nyc needs..
it would only set an example why places such as twilo/arc close down and, also make it that harder for places like D36 to open up. |
I totally see your point, but like Eco and She_Fitz said, there are usually several loading metal gates that you can roll up to get people out, I remember for Drumcode they opened the gate in the morning to let some air in... I've never really experienced bad lines, especially at the location where the party was this past saturday; in any case, if you're waiting in line in an alley, it will take much longer for a fire to get to you, no? |

I beg to differ. These places are shipping warehouses, storage warehouses, freight houses, there are dozens of ways to get out of these places if something like that happened, sometimes all you have to do is raise the 3 or 4 loading doors. Sure, it's not up to par with what the fire chief would legally require if you were opening a club, but my point here is that it's not the fire chief shutting theses parties down. It's the cops because it sounds great in the newspaper that they are shutting down a "warehouse party" where drugs and loud techno music are going wild. It sounds like they're doing their jobs.. |
lol okay that may be true but ur missing my point...im arguing for the safety of ppl bc i really would hate to see/hear something bad happen. a fire isnt the only thing that can go wrong here.
and yes, i totally agree she_fitz...these parties are like walking around with substances...u should know there will be consequences. i just feel bad for those that came from out-of-town and spent hundreds of $$ to get ed over bc id be pretty upset too...wouldnt be something id just brush off lol however, the locals should suck it up no reason to cry |

| Being from out of town or not, you should always have a backup plan ;) I'm sure that ppl that flew in knew about the nature of this party too. |

yea i suppose^^
btw, not every warehouse or location have a 20' gate...that spot where the drumcode event was held is one of my fav spots bc its where i feel the most safest- in terms of it being shut down (yes, im aware thats where spooky was held too, so much for safety there now) or something bad happening.
anyways, im done analyzing it differently other then the usual they just want to ruin our fun. |

From Taimur's FB:
| quote: | Dear friends,
This weekend's incident was something that really was disappointing in every way possible. We were not the only ones who were affected by this. It seems that there we're alot of other parties + clubs that night that were shut down, leaving many party goers and clubbers a not so memorable halloween weekend.
We are issuing a full press release later tonight so please stay tuned for it. All of us at Blkmarket Membershp, ReSolute & Esthetik will be sending out a message to all of our friends & fans.
In the meantime, we would like to announce a special make up party being held at Bar13 tomorrow featuring the duo of Mara Trax (Miss Fitz & Vera) and Minus star Heartthrob.
Party starts at 11 and goes till 3.
Blkmarket Membershp, ReSolute & Esthetik present:
Mara Trax (Cyclical Tracks)
Heartthrob (Minus)

no one was crying so hard over the party over 4th of July weekend getting shut down early...and that was due to a stabbing outside the place that had NOTHING to do with the party!
the location of Spooky was silly though...while its one of the better spots Blk Market has used, its also the SAME spot they keep using in recent months, of COURSE someones gonna babble to someone they shouldn't and the cops are gonna come make an example out of the scene...
sucks guys, but keep your mouths shut from here on out about parties/locations/etc if you wanna keep stuff going. |

At the Drumcode party there was a cop car sitting outside the entire night. Just sayin... |

yea b/c its no mystery that Blk Market pays off the cops! And they hire incredibly awesome security for their parties. I feel MORE safe there than I do at regular clubs...
This had nothing to do with Blk Market, it coulda been any promoter, the local gov just wanted to make an example of over Halloween weekend...
all the people whining about losing money for tickets, etc...how you think the promoters feel? They probably got a HUGE fine and will suffer some form of legal trouble for throwing the party. At least no one got thrown in jail this time... |

I saw that as well. I think the cops are generally ok with these parties or don't have the time to track all of these parties. People keep throwing around "illegal parties", but I'm not so sure that they are. I think this weekend's shutdowns are a lot more general than we think. They view Halloween weekend as a "high risk" weekend and put the kabosh on what they believe are "high risk" events. Hopefully they leave us alone in the future and stick to controlling the out of control drunks on the streets and not people who know how to handle themselves in the middle of Brooklyn. |

none of these parties are legal dude...they pay people off to keep them off their backs, which works 9 times out of 10. this was a high profile weekend as with any other major party holiday.
The wolf + lamb party was actually legal and still got shut down too.
large groups of kids on drugs listening to techno = bad news. |

actually it is, b/c people want to flip out on the promoter and make a huge deal over losing $15-$50 from tickets they bought...yet they have NO clue how their money is spent to create these parties. |
