It seems I got to this discussion after it has cooled down and ppl got to a conclusion that PvD is a good DJ but bad producer (because *someone* stressed that point more than 3 times hehe :D)
Well after all the yelling and .. hehe let's all cool down and agree to one thing: PVD IS GOD!!
haha come on doodz.. some made a comarison with Armin or Tiesto... but I say put these damn 3 together and SEE THE MAGIC!!
but overall I don't know how has PvD been overrated. He has never been voted as world DJ of the year for the last 4 years or something.. and not that he's winning these awards every now and then. He's just like the rest, gets the chance to play, and rocks the skies with his sets. maybe he's a bit overrated HERE with idiots like me calling him a GOD :)
His productions are a different story, I won't go into that topic but ppl are entitled to different opinions and being a PvD fan I became so because I fell in love with his work, be that playing sets (DJING!!) or producing.

OMFG!!!!!! ok i need to share this with you.... ok today i was argueing for about 2 hours with this dude that tried to convince me the PVD wasnt Paul van dyk..... he was telling me that i dont know anything about him and thatn i dont know anything about trance..... i seriously thought it was teh funniest ever!!!...i told him there might be a amatuer artist called pvd..but the main PVD is PAUL VAN DYK!! I think people like that shouldnt be listening to this music ...cuz it makes this music look really bad!! lol but i really though it was funny

I reckon the people that don't like his production need to realise that he was one of the main artists that I grew up with.
It's like saying that The Beatles production was - well maybe it was (certainly technically it was) but the point is that his music (paritcularly pre VDT) is an event describing the music scene at the time as well as being good (my opinion) music.
Another example is The Prodigy Experience album. Look back on it and you could say some of it is cheesy and doesn't compare to more recent stuff. However, it describes what was going on in the rave scene and captures an atmosphere that nothing else can.
Both of those examples were groundbreaking stuff - VDT might seem cheesy because it sounds like recent stuff, but I think people forget that it predates modern stuff by 2 years.
And how many of you associate a track with an event? I reckon all of you.
