The thing is, you do not have to. This board, unlike a face to face conversation, has a handy "ignore list" feature that easily offended people really should use more often.

So yes, the Internet actually is a lot different from "real life" in this case.

Never used that feature on any board and never will. I'd rather tackle a problem head on, not bury my head in the sand.
Also I can't believe you are rationalising this by using the age old "internet - srs bsns" bull. I mean, seriously

As for M4Bs wealth of knowledge, I see plenty of people like Cryo, Kit, Rann and plenty of others share great knowledge all the time and yet people generally like them. Why is that? What is the one major difference there....hmm....

If we're talking alcohol....mmmmm Millers Gin :D

Jaded words of a old fart whose ambitions where derailed by a fat wife and unwanted younglings. IT actually bothers me that you people diminish what education and experience bring. YOu would never argue with a doctor so quit arguing with me. It pisses me off. You aren't right so just leave it be. I"ve criticized myself constantly for the last 20 years constantly feeling I suck and you know what, I no longer have any contentions regarding fact that I am actually really good at what I do. It isn't delusion, it isn't self generated, I've worked with important people and the general consensus is that I'm aces. So stop being such a bastard you limey .Sure I will learn lots more but to put it curt, my grasp of music is beyond your understanding. Not that I say this often but I think on this website, it is pretty safe thing to say. It isn't bragging as I am completely aware how limited everyone on here is. I just think your all cuddly and that is why I go here.

ONE OF THE BEST VIDEOS O'ALL TIME!!!

What would tackling the problem head on mean? Banning?

You needn't use the ignore feature, even. I don't use it either. But there are some people I consider morons, or generally not worth reading, so I simply scroll past their posts. This is not that difficult.

I don't care what you want to label it, or if it's "age old," but it's simply a fact that on a board you have options for avoiding irritating people that you would not have in a face to face venue.

The main issue I had with him was his invasiveness into every other thread that usually meant him derailing it. Even when he was helpful he would usually use that as a setup for a later snide comment or attack. The ignore feature wouldn't work as his constant and desperate need for attention means he smeared himself everywhere.

It was at best asking him to justify his opinions, but, c'mon let's be honest - it was really just a veiled attempt to subjugate his tastes in music in retaliation for his arrogance.

Dave, that's not how I read it. I welcomed this thread as it was an opportunity for us to find out the quality of MFB'ds output.

bingo, and this thread now proves there was none.

I like M4B, yes he's bold, yes he's bad tempered, but he seems always integer, though often being completly blunt.

I like that a lot better than people who get personal, have nothing to show for and aren't contributing anything.

So let M4B be "the guy with the manual" that's still a lot better than the "look I am full of AND myself s" some of the others are......

I'd say a lot of trained people in all walks of life, are not necessarily the best innovators. Think of world middle wieght boxing champ (Welsh bloke) who was critiscised for not using a 'proper' gym. He used his old cow shed and ran up steep hills, but guess what, it made him fitter than any other boxer.

Rule following and classical competance are by no means the answer to outputting music people want to hear.

He often says we cannot fully appreciate what is good and what is not good music as we simply do not have his 'depper' understanding, but I would argue he has been robotised and imprinted so he himself may not be a very good innovator.

He knows a lot of sh1t, but in the end what does it all add up to?

Oh and yeah, I very much enjoy his contributions - but come on Brad, back up your posturing. Dont say 'why do you never think about your hatz you chump', and then not SHOW how it should be done, show not tell.

99.99% of the world economists did not predict the worldwide credit crunch yet an unknown American guy (Dr Bubb) on a UK forum called housepricecrash.co.uk, was writing thread wasy back in 2005 with titles such as 'pin your signs of the comming credit crunch here'.

Example from Jan 2005, 30 months before President Bush's advisers new what a debt crisis was;

Latest figures from the BBA for the 11 months of last year show:-

800,000 new mortgages @ average £111k
760,000 2nd mortages @ average £94k
740,000 secured loans @ average £23k

Total secured borrowing £177bn by 2.3m households !!!!! and thats about 10% of all the households in the UK.

BBA accounts for 70% of secured lending, so complete picture is even more borrowing.

Now recent BoE survey, says that 25% of 2nd mortgages taken out are TO CONSOLIDATE DEBTS !!!!!

Surely someone has got to realise this debt issue is out of control !!!!

Me again>

In other words experts are very often wrong and cannot see the bigger picture. As such I value MFB'd opine about eqaual to many on here when it comes to EDM.

The experts knew exactly what was happening. Goldman Sachs was selling financial products they knew was going to crash. Why you think I say they knew it? Because they backed them up with Credit Default Swaps betting that those mortage backed securities would crash. And they made big money of it.

Heck, one of my friends at the university wrote her Master Thesis about this mess back in 2006 :P

edot: Ben Bernanke is a different story. This guy is a joke.
