It does work well for me individually, but it feels like this whole forum is just a little TOO light hearted now in a way? As you said, the thread derailment thing is way out of hand, there just aren't any worthwhile threads on here anymore, so I feel like us longer term members (you, RANN, maybe me, Eric J when he drops by) and people who actually care (like kysora) should be working to try to pull things back into line a bit and get discussion back towards production. The longest threads around here are about rubbish these days, and the energy just isn't going into thoughtful or insightful discussion. I just think it'd be a good idea to ban a couple of users lie ortofonchild who just contribute nothing.

Couldn't agree more, but this forum has always been about what you put in, and that's the only way to make it better in terms of content. As for OT threads, I think the c0r has spilled in to the PF a few too many times recently and some have taken the idea that pissing here is fine - it's not, and I think a bit of regulation is going to happen round here real soon ;)
The only bit I disagree with is Ortofonchild - I don't see him as a negative and actually has always been a contributor in the Dj booth, as well as sharing his DJ mixes which are pretty good at times. |

I should probably clarify, I do realize M4B can be annoying to certain people. I can completely understand why people might get pissed off at his arrogance. It's annoying, and there are times when he derails threads. But that only happens because you guys turn the thread's attention towards him. The only reason it gets so much attention is because you guys allow it to, and constantly addressing it and bitching about what is ultimately just harmless forum trolling is inflating the issue to something much, much bigger than it'd be if you guys just shrugged it off like I do.
It just seems to me like the people who constantly complain about how much M4B distracts from discussing production are the same ones constantly complaining about M4B's frivolous that could just as easily have been ignored. Not to say it's your fault, since technically M4B was the one acting out of line, but nothing he did was nearly as bad as you guys make it out to be. |

Sometimes I feel like everybody puts a little too much emphasis on my opinions for some reason and I really don't know why - I'm just one of 100s of members here and my opinion shouldn't carry any more weight than anyone else's. But it seems like I've been called out a lot lately for stating my opinion (and I don't mean that in a "poor me, the victim" way), but maybe I'm just too outspoken for my own good and should learn to shut my piehole?
I doubt anybody noticed, but about a year or so ago I stopped hanging out on forums for a few months because I was sick and bored of all the flamefests on TA, KVR, gearslutz, etc, so when I came back I decided that I was going to make a concerted effort to avoid or try to diffuse confrontational situations whenever I have the chance. You guys may see that as "sucking up", but I prefer to think of it as having much bigger things to worry about (e.g., a kid, my future, my job). Talking about music should be a great way to take my mind off those everyday stresses, not make them worse.

Well I think quite a bit of what he's done is very bad actually. But whatever. I recognise that he often contributes, but I note that he only contributes to his own threads and on his own topics. If someone else is trying to ask a reasonable question, he often just derails their threads. He's only interested in being helpful when he's the center of attention and will be worshipped as you were doing before.
His competition was a really great and productive idea, and I'd participate in the next one if he ran one and would let me, but I think his overall attitude is really very bad.

Well, I'm not really good/strong in politics, I rather stick with music but was really surprise by this statement myself?, I guess nobody is perfect, we all make mistake (I would like to believe so).

I just meant relative to what M4B's supposedly accomplished with music in his life compared to us. I used that as an example to show why he'd get pissed off when people like us start tossing his credentials out the window as meaningless.
I also figured most of us were pretty aware of our limited success, including myself. Obviously people like RANN or other successful people I'm not aware of aren't the sort of people I was referring to. |
