I've done the same thing. In almost every case, however, it's because the new producers presented themselves with a ridiculous amount of ego while offering very, very little in the way of substance. |
I've done the same, but I'm talking about unwarranted rudeness, not idiots coming on here and talking about themselves as though they were BT's next coming, before linking to a piece of crap music. |

Somewhat OT, but if you guys ever want to see some REAL arrogance (usually from people without the experience, knowledge, or talent to back it up), go hang out at gearslutz for a few days. :eyes: :D |
Gearslutz has some very smart and experienced people, and some of the more famous topics are nothing to scoff at. |

I've been on the receiving end of his bluntness a couple of times. He's said my music is only fit for mugwumps.

Here's how I handled it, the last time (along with some other "critics" who didn't seem to see eye-to-eye with me on the elementary level of their epic greatness).
My favorite post of mine in that thread, though, is where I break down the thread title for heliontide. :stongue: :stongue:
well i thought it was funny |

Not worked up about the whole thing myself, but I basically agree with Kysora.
Too often "music is subjective" and similar platitudes are used to dismiss the value of knowledge and skills that take years and years of practice to develop, which M4B has and many or maybe most here (including me) do not. A lot of producers seem to have a certain comfort zone, a place where they feel that acquiring more traditional knowledge of music would not be worth it to them. In itself, this is fine, but sometimes it overflows into an obvious resentment and trashing of someone who is clearly on another level when it comes to that stuff.
I'm not suggesting it's about jealousy, necessarily. It's more a case of this petulant "Who does he think he is?! I'm just fine right where I am!" sort of thinking. |

Similar to what's he's done to several noob producers who've had their first ever posts here ripped to shreds, in a very unkind way, by him. |
I seriously doubt he's done that. If he did, like Eddie said, they had it coming to them. |

If I can be bothered later, I'll link to an example. It's what made me notice him in the first place. |

Yeah, that's what I don't understand. Music tastes and opinions are subjective but people seem to think things related to theory fall under the same category.
M4B literally spent his life studying and pursuing music, he's undeniably amazing at it, yet people try and reduce his experience and knowledge to nothing because they have their own uninformed beliefs and opinions that they feel are just as credible because "music is subjective". If I were M4B there wouldn't be words to describe how ing aggravating it'd be to hear something like that, especially coming from bedroom producers over the internet. |
