How was this year for you? I've pretty much had my best year in making music so far in terms of quality and quantity. It's going to be a tough 2011 for me because you always want to make your next song your best.
So how was it for you? Have any goals for 2011? |

only one finished tune.
Work and life in general is leaving less and less time for music production. I can squeeze in the odd couple of hours here and there but rarely have enough time to see a track through to its conclusion.
For 2011? Probably even less time. |

| it was the worst year for a long time in every aspect. 2011 doesnt look to be much better (well it cant be worse i guess though). as long as i live in this apartment nothing is going to happen. |

| Not horrible but not where I want it to be, either. Technical issues scuttled four projects I was working on. I still got a lot (a few songs and one album) done but I really need to get a dedicated computer for it. It's very frustrating. |

| Pretty awful, I'm in the 1 track club, as well. But the future is always optimistic for me. |

| Was not too bad for me , managed to finish 11 tracks 2 housey projects and 9 trance tunes 1 of which is a remix for Lost Witness forthcoming on Newstate records. Hopefully aim to do 20 tracks next year and maybe a debut album. I find producing gets easier the more you do it. I used to only do the odd track each year and gradually it increased more and more depening on when i get time to do it. I generally finish a tune between 4-6 hours from start to finish. |

That's what I keep saying - there's always something one should be unhappy with that dissatisfies enough that one strives to improve upon that area. While I'm painfully aware of many areas regarding my abilities (along with not quite aware enough regarding others) the major thorn in my side is having a technically inadequate system. It's the sole reason I never finished that tutorial thread, I started a while back.
I was working on rendering audio for a new post and then, all of the sudden, kaput! It crashes. I restart the DAW. Nothing. I do a cold reboot of the computer - same result:
"SONAR cannot open the file you requested due to the following error: ERR#_WIN700123goblety-potato-gook"
I even tried opening previous versions, but to no avail. Two hours later, I was re-installing SONAR in its 32-bit configuration and, a week or two later, I was working on Superstition using only Reason (because ReWire still won't work on the current system).
It's not the fault of anyone or anything outside of myself. Producing music using the MacGyver method (shoe-string, paper-clip, chewing gum, and ASIO4ALL) and now chronic unemployment have lost their charm. I'm still motivated to get done but : a couple of DAW crashes, spotty playback, and corrupted files constitute a lot of flies in the ointment. |
