LOL! Yeah tell that to my buddy who didn't get a job at the Post Office with a top qualifying test score because they had to make room at the top and fill up the minority quota.
I'll say it right to his face. If you're white and male you have no right at all to bitch. People have so much god damn privilege and they don't even realize it. It's disgusting.

So what am I supposed to do... feel guilty? that . What should I do, throw a party because I might not get eyeballed in a clothing store or that I might be taken more seriously by Cleetus at the hardware store when I ask for a $9.00/hour job? :stongue:

The point he's making is that you, as a white male, have to be conscious of the fact that your white maleness does, indeed, afford you privilege. To say it doesn't is just not true.
And, you know, since your buddy isn't reaping the rewards of being a white male, he obviously isn't trying hard enough. He'd better change his attitude. ;)

What I do know is that the longer people are given handouts, the less likely they are to apply themselves. It's human nature man; a cycle of dependency is perpetuated. What, you think 3 years of unemployment checks is reasonable and is more apt to lead to self reliance? You're a simple minded fool if you ascribe to such notions. Look what's happening in Europe right now... people in Greece were burning down and rioting in the street because, wait for it... they were being asked to retire at 52 instead of 50, and have their number of weekly paychecks dropped from 54 to 52 (that's right- they were receiving 54 weekly paychecks with 52 weeks in a year).
It was in France just recently actually and age was raised to 62, not 52.

I disagree, and I'll use myself as an example, again. I'm an overpaid and unemployed citizen that has the economic capacity to "consume," yet for the most part, I don't. Call me a dreg, I guess. the "ability" to spend /= spending
