Your hardware and software progression

I thought it would be interesting to see the hardware and software everyone started out with and the evolution to what you use today. Here is mine:

Reason --> Cubase --> Cubase + Ableton

Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS --> Audiophile 2496 --> Focusrite Saffire --> RME Fireface 400
MrJiveBoJingles
Reason -> Reason + Ableton -> Reason + Studio One

Computer soundcards -> M-Audio Profire 610

No hardware -> Little Phatty -> Little Phatty + Juno-6 + Moog Ring Modulator
Kenny Rogers
Sequencers: Reason + Logic, might get Ableton too. Soundcards: M-Audio 2496, Echo Audiofire 12, 2 and 4. Monitors: Tannoy 631, ESI nEar 05, Genelec 8020. Synths: JP8080, Nord Rack 3, Virus Rack XL, MicroQ, Electribe EMX&ESX. now nothing, sold all. Midi: ESI 4x4, Edirol something, UC33e -> kept the UC. looking for a big keyboard or a main synth (Nord Lead 2x maybe). For me it turned out that less is more and that i should put all my money on monitors instead of useless hardware synths. but thats me.

I bought loads and loads and loads of stuff.

Then I sold it all and got a decent quality basic setup and all is good.

HW synths

1981ish - Moog (Realistic) MG-1 Concertmate
1982-1985 - various Roland Junos and D-series, Yamaha DXs, Korgs
1986-1990s - mostly played bass, but used my Roland D-20 and D-50 in several bands
2000s - Virus (A/B/C/XL/TI/TI2), Nords (1/2/2X/3), Novations, DSI, Waldorfs, E-mus, Rolands, Moogs, Alesis, etc etc etc
Current - Kurzweil PC3X, Access Virus TI2, Yamaha FS1R

SW

$99 Cubase > Cubase SL3 > Sonar Home Studio > Sonar 5, 6, 7, 8, 8.5, X1

But also stayed current on Cubase through 5.5, and used many other DAWs (e.g., Live, Studio One, PTLE).

More SW synths than I care to count.

I was born in 1981. I think you are old enough to be my daddy.

Haha how many 19 year olds can say they have a progression of studio equipment? I'm too busy spending any extra money I have on guitar to build up a studio for myself

I've only known cubase. I've read comments that you cannot get depth of sound out of it.
One French guy told me any kicks comming out of cubase lack depth and density.

Any thoughts? Sorry to hijack thread.
