The Future Sound Of London - Environments 3
Hate albums like this one. Sounds completely unique and different from everything else released this year, yet so barren and inferior to their golden era stuff, which is now already 15 years old. This Environments series could have been a triumphant comeback for FSOL to original material in the vein of Portishead, yet it has more of the feel of The Prodigy's infamous return.
Also heaven't heard all the stuff I wanted from this year, but my list would more or less look something like this:
01. Ceephax Acid Crew - United Acid Emirates
One of the few albums in the last couple of years that succeeded to sound both classy and fun at the same time. This is how acid should be done.
02. ANBB - Mimikry
Horror glitch core from the master of artificial "Raster Noton sound" Alva Noto and his alleged long time admirer and champion of eerie atmosphere Blixa Bargeld of Einstürzende Neubauten.
03. Autechre - Oversteps
This one borrows some ideas and concepts from their last effort and even more from Tri Repetae era, and sounds almost as normal music, yet still not completely. Fortunately.
04. Loscil - Endless Falls
Calm and peaceful, yet captivating albums that wraps you in its highly emotional sound and lets you float through its sincere and introspective soundscapes.
05. Phoenecia - Echelon Mall
Dark cinematic masterpiece imbued with some of the finest glitch work ever. It was worth the 9 years wait.
06. Shed - The Traveller
07. Oriol - Night And Day
08. The Black Dog - Music For Real Airports
09. Venetian Snares - My So-Called Life
10. Echospace - Liumin
Honorable mention: The Future Sound Of London - Environments 3
Scoops
1. Eelke Kleijn - Untold Stories
2. Fabric 53: Surgeon
3. D:Fuse - Human Frequency 2.0
4. Michael Cassette - Temporarity
5. Marco Carola/ Nick Curly - Party Animals

Really enjoyed the Kollektiv Turmstrasse album.

For some reason i'm not feeling the Traveller that much, expect for the ambient tracks. But then again i'm not feeling Shedding The Past that much either.

The only new albums I listened to this year were Oversteps, The Traveller, and Music For Real Airports. All good, though.
I am still waiting for Boards of Canada to put out something new. Five ing years since the last full-length album.

The first Environments was massively disappointing, especially for anyone who'd been waiting since 1994 to hear it. It just sounded like an empty pastiche of their classic ambient material with no unifying theme or idea. However I think Environments 2 is one of their best albums, certainly better than something like Dead Cities which has aged rather poorly.

I'd rather they gave a proper release to their vintage material instead, including all the tracks they played during their live performances. As well as that extended version of Roygbiv from a DAT.
etc.

I'm pretty sure the only albums I listened to from 2010 were Eddie Zilker's and the latest from Gorillaz, both of which I enjoyed.
McNasty
John Roberts - Glass Eights
Mark E Vol 1&2
Christopher Rau - Asper Clouds
Donato Dozzy - K
Nebraska - Four for Four EP
Space Dimension Disco - Temporary Thrillz

Wanted to send you a pm, but I'll post here instead if anyone else is interested. Since new BoC might as well never happen, you could give a chance to Emeralds - Does It Look Like I'm Here?. This is fantastic stuff, I've listened to it today for the first time and it directly gets into my top 5 of the year. It lays somewhere between BoC and Fennesz, doesn't contain any beats and could throw you a little off if you aren't into soundscapes couloured with some analogue noise, but I think it's worth giving a chance.
By far: First State - Changing Lanes. It took me some time to get into, but once I did I was hooked.
I also like the Michael Cassette album, Myon & Shane54's International Departures Soundtrack, Markus Schulz's Do You Dream... and of course Armin's Mirage.
As far as mix comps go; In Trance We Trust 015 (mixed by Virtual Vault). Some truly amazing tracks. Anjunabeats 8 - pretty much any anjuna comp is at the very least decent.
Was a little let down by Leon Bolier's album, but I haven't listened to it much, maybe I'll get into it. Really digging Signum's album right now.
