I fail to see the "humiliating" part. Maybe the Hugh Hefner and Scientology/Tom Cruise/John Travolta bit? Maybe since Travolta's son died recently, so it was insensitive?
Well, they hired Ricky. They know Ricky's brand of humor. Deal with it. |

Whatever, the guy is funny & he's just cracking jokes. Hollywood needs to get a grip. |

I thought it was brilliant. I thought the stars who came on to present awards were just giving a little back themselves rather than expressing outward annoyance (Tom Hanks/Tim Allen/Robert Downey Jr.) at what Gervais had just said about them. |

I have hopes for this show. It's low-brow but as unpoliticallycorrect as you'll get in the UK nowadays. I miss Bottom & Hugh Lawrie stuff. |
Should have got Jeremy Clarkson to present, with his 'love' for all things American...not that anyone here knows who he is! |

yeah but that's never gonna happen on the BBC & they're so PC that the word 'apple' is banned on that channel. I saw eastenders when they asked pauline to pass them a round green thingy. |

What the hell did they expect from Ricky Gervais? That's what he does. If they wanted to play it safe, they should have gotten someone horribly unfunny. Like Jimmy Fallon. |
