I found this quite a challenge, detroit has a lot of different stuff to offer! I hope I've managed to capture at least some of it. One of the things I found really quite difficult was that Id find loads of good tracks but they just would nt fit together in any sort of flow, or even just work together without sounding awful. I have been working on this on and off all month but nothings really slotted into place. I was starting to panic a little about missing the deadline after spending quite so much time trying to sort it out that I decided to crack open some ale and hit record when I got home from work ce soir.

The result is below, I think its ok, certainly not my best work (the mix into baslline is pretty whack tbh) but some bits did fall into place and I am happy with it. I'm sorry it kind of tails off at the end but the missus had dinner ready lol.

Anyway, let me know what you think, I have listened to some of the other mixes but havent got time to comment now, all good tho (esp montanas tech-trance).

Absolutely love this mix, djdk. Just what I was going forward... started out melodic and lush, then got into the whole mechanical, dystopian rhythms. A perfect summation of Detroit techno. There were a few slight messups in beatmatching, but nothing serious. Kudos on an awesome job! That Vince Watson remix is :eyes:

So it seems like this is one of the most successful contests yet. Most of the people who registered turned in a mix, and what was there was usually very very good. We'll have to do this again, in a few months though once people have an adequate time to recover.

Probably one of my worst mixes I have ever done but I hope you understand me that I was truly challenged by this game and this genre in particular since I didnt have a single record or actually any clue what this was. Turned out it was a nice genre to explore but with limited time and funds, and to be within the time frame of the game, I enter my mix, it is not varied and it is not mixed good at all. There are even a few spikes in the mix because of my computer. Anyway, I hope some of you might like some bits of it. Tracklist:
1. Ibizzare feat. Vincent J. Alvis - The Eye Of God
2. Ramsey & Fen - Colour (Ramsey & Fen Remix)
3. Artful Dodger - Moving Too Fast
4. Somore feat. Damon Trueitt - I Refuse (What You Want) (Industry Standard Club Mix)
5. Ramsey & Fen - Sex You (Ramsey & Fen Bumpy Vocal Mix)
6. Todd Edwards - Show The Way
7. Artful Dodger - Woman Trouble
8. Ramsey & Fen - Always (Dub Ride)
9. Artful Dodger - It Ain't Enough
10. Todd Edwards - Far Away
11. K-Warren feat. Lee-O - Comming Home
12. Shola Ama - Run To Me (Club Asylum Vocal Mix)
13. Bonnie Pink - Sweet (Todd Edwards Extended Vocal Mix)
14. Sound OF One - As I Am
15. Maxee - When I Look Into Your Eyes
16. Esther Hart - This Aint The Time

Yessss, that's the one I'm waiting for! I can't wait to check it out when I get home...

Although not to nitpick but some of the songs in the TL, like the Todd Edwards and "I Refuse" are 4x4 garage but not 2-step :P But then again you are forgiven, for not knowing anything about the genre.

Interested in hearing the Todd remix of that Bonnie Pink song. Bonnie Pink did a vocal track for a game I like, Tales of Vesperia.

Prepare for some very bad mixing! :D

Ian
Not too bad to be honest. No worse than mine for sure. As said, it's not strictly 2 step but you've had a go and that's more important than those who've got a genre and had no intention to do it, so well done for trying, but you know it's not a patch on your epic goa mixes :)

MrGame+Watch - It's not a bad mix but it doesn't have a flow that I can believe in. Again being a novice in the genre, you've come across issues that I & Others will have done over the years, it's an awkward sound to get right.

This was more difficult than I thought. Had a really stressful month at job. But I really wanted to finnish my mix. I'm no expert on hard trance so I hope this goes out well to whoever suggested it. I first planned to put out a classic hardtrance mix (Harthouse records/Nostrum/Drax etc) but that stuff can be a bitch to mix and find.
So I took a more "modern hardtrance" approach. Play at loud volume! Enjoy!

Tracklist:

01. Return Of The Native - Persuasion
02. Alexander Gustoff - Technetic
03. Mark Norman - Intimate Gesture
04. Kay D Smith - Person Called
05. John The Baptist - Verse 1 (Louk Exorcist Remix)
06. Rocket Base - In My House
07. The Freak - Addictive (Hard mix)
08. Zicky - She Wanna (Guillare remix)
09. DJ Wag - 2nd Step
10. Yakooza - Cocaine
11. Hennes & Cold - The Second Trip (DJ Scot Project remix)
