I really enjoyed Social Network. From the eight that I've seen of the ten nominated for best picture, it's my favorite.
Does anyone know how they draw the lines between best foreign projects nominated versus domestic? I mean, Biutiful is a Spanish film isn't it? Yet Javier Bardem is nominated for best actor. Last year An Education was nominated for best picture (overall, not foreign), but it seemed to be pretty clearly a UK film to me. What's the determining factor? |

Roberto Begnini won Best actor for La vita è bella, which was nominated for both Best Picture and Best Foreign Language film (it only won the latter). So who knows, really?  |

Biutiful is nominated for Best Foreign Film, though. So it is considered a foreign film.

No director nod for Nolan. I’m not surprised. This is the same hack organization that gave an Oscar to Dances with Wolves over Goodfellas, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck over Paul Thomas Anderson, Chicago over The Pianist and Three Six Mafia over someone white. The Academy has no credibility. It is just a big joke that is played on us every year.
