| Remember as well, that in those years that a movie such as TKS didn't win, there was at least one nominated. I can't even remember the last time there was a year without at least one British Oscar paint-by-numbers piece nominated. |

Umm...Melissa Leo winning instead of Hallee Stanfield for True Grit? No way. That 14 year old carried the movie and outshined her older co-stars on many occaisions. TKS winning for original screenplay (when it's based on a true story) over something like Inception? No way. Also Ryan Gosling not even getting nominated for Best Actor for his work in Blue Valentine was also a shame. The Acadamy doesn't make sense usually and instead of awarding stuff based on merit there's always some political agenda to fulfill. They'll give the awards to those that have been overlooked usually in previous years even if in the current year of the ceremony their film isn't even that great.
The King's Speech isn't all that. I saw it last night and although I thought it was good, it's nowhere near as good as The Fighter, which I still think is the best of the 10 movies on they've nominated. I guess i've seen Geoffrey Rush's charactor type in other films as well and it was nothing new really. |

| I liked the fighter for the acting. the story, very un-imaginative. King's Speech was much better IMO. The way the director filmed the movie; during the one on one scenese, pulling the characters in the screen off off to the side, with the background taking over that scene I found quite well done. Sure it was based on a true story, but someone had to put together the screenplay from that true story. I'm sure a lot of research went behind that to get it all right. The acting was incredible. I feel it deserved the Oscar for Best Picture. |

| Honestly, I would have been just as happy if Black Swan, or The Fighter had won. Those 2 movies, as well as The King's Speech were all deserving of the "Best Picture" Oscar. Tough choice to make this year! |
