Really?

I find remixing harder than coming up with original stuff.

yea dude i like remixing too, last 3 remixes i sort of rushed though, i knocked them down a day each. i have to be into them though...

one i made 2 days ago, its definitely still a learning process and will be for quite a while with me. I just find it best when im inspired by it, i dont really want to work on it over a long period of time. but if you sit on it a while, you can re-listen and do things differently which can be great.

im in the process of turning down my first remix, the remix pack is very very bland, doesnt inspire me at all, i really dont feel like making a whole new track for it.

I think and people agree i am much better remixing than on originals, there are two different creative process but i find a lot harder to come up with something from scratch than adding some things.

ive never done any real remix work and i think it would be a good experience. Might help with my 'everything i do would be better suited ten years ago' problem.

I'm so retro the last remix I did was confused for the original that nobody remembered.

Typically, they have assistants that weed out the garbage and then pass on the good stuff. Eventually, yes they listen to the promos.

If you want to get this in their hands, you might have better success approaching a label they regularly play from.

If its really that good, post up a sample for all of us to hear. Like I said before, make sure its good before you try to send it out. The people who aren't trolling will give you an honest assessment.

Man, I really have my work cut out for me. It's a good thing I have not submitted anything to any of the shows or entered any remix contests yet.

It's good to know the way it all works from someone who has been through it.

Sounds difficult, but is it worth it to you mate?

Yeah, sure. I mean, I probably wouldn't do it if I didn't enjoy it.

I feel the same way about going to work. Oh wait.

Any other advice you can give?

Obviously there is no room for mediocrity in electronic music, at least in terms of production quality. (Doesn't mean the music itself is always quality.)

One thing I have a problem with is I either like to make things too complicated or I have trouble finishing them. Have a perfectionist streak which is great in some cases, but can really be a handicap.
arskinetica
The problem is though, the music industry, like many others, is the opposite.

Results now, not later.

How do you as an Artist cope with that?

Reality is one way, but people want it another.

arskinetica
I feel scared as right now after hearing more about the reality of EDM, but I feel I have to push forward anyway.
