disapointed with montreal (pg. 3)

I arrived at around the time of the original post, and was surprised at how dead it was, but it filled up pretty nicely by about 4:00.

I was in town on business, and although I didn't have anyone to go with, I just couldn't turn down a chance to go to Stereo.

Although Chez Damier's mixing left a little to be desired, he was dropping some serious bombs on the crowd. I was very pleased to hear warm, Detroit-influenced house grooves, almost shining out of Stereo's hallowed speakers. I was the guy with the tucked-in dress shirt (I basically came straight from work), dancing my ass off with a huge smile on my face near the front left speaker. As someone lives in Toronto and who doesn't get to hear music in Stereo very often, I think I may have been a smiling a lot more than your average Stereo-goer that night.

I gave Jimpster about 45 minutes, but he didn't pick it up fast enough to keep me interested, so I left because I was extremely tired from a very long day. I'm sure he picked it up, because I have seen Jimpster play very well before.

Some of the tracks of the night goes to:

Both by Chez Damier.

As an aside, speaking to the viability of Friday nights at Stereo in Montreal, I was at Rouge before I went to Stereo, and not a single person I talked to had even heard of Stereo. To me, this was not only disappointing, but also seemed a little concerning. The fact that no one had even heard of Stereo to me indicates that Stereo's promoters should be doing a little better job about getting the word out.

I'd prefer it if the people who went to Rouge steered way clear from Stereo lol.. Rouge isn`t that bad a place, I go there every once in a while but the people who go there aren`t afterhours type people. Half the time they play rock music at Rouge.

Why don't you move then, Mr. Daniel?

Otherwise, if you chose to stay in this city that has so let you down, may I suggest... attributing your own failures to other people will not lead to people recognizing your talents or that which you're promoting. Encouraging, positive actions are recommended.

lol first of all,rouge?ew
second, not everyone knows what an afterhours club is in the first place.
its all about the hype, and for civilians(as in non club owners, non djs,non promoters)they only care about where the next good party is,if ur competing against a club who brought in a better dj with a bigger hype, then thats where most ppl will go. Why? because civilians dont care about loyalty to a club, they only care about where the best party is and where all there friends will be.

Relax there buddy, i understand where he's coming from. For a couple of weeks i kept saying to myself i was going to go to this and when the night came it didn't work out. Do i feel disappointed in myself, not really. But this was the type of night I've been wanting to experience at Stereo and i didn't go. Especially on a Friday night, the last one i went to was Carlo Lio and i could honestly say it was my least favorite night at Stereo.

Do you blame the city for your least favorite night at Stereo?
Seems like the fault lies with Stereo, if not yourself too...
I'd say the same of Maher.

It's not kind to blame the masses, is all I'm saying...
Like, if they cared, they would go.
If they liked what they heard, they would probably show so.
If not, there's a problem, and the problem is probably not theirs.

And if it is...
Economics?
Maybe they're too poor to afford Stereo's door!
Ha!

Lower the price, Maher! Free entry for all!!! :-D

what kind of stupid reply is this? Rouge, Chez Serge or Laboom, who gives a where Stereo or afterhours clients are coming from.

Where does this stupid idea come from that cool after hours are the ones that no one heard off. How are these afterhours supposed to survive? Look at Stereo, it's not profitable, never was, always needs to be bailed out.

Another example, Black and Blue, you speak to "civilians" and they never heard of it, how is this event supposed to survive when the regulars have grown up?

Highroller has a very good point!
Big Boss
The regulars got older and the replacement people (the younger generation) aren't being targeted or they are being ignored.

Both Toronto and Montreal are having an issue filling clubs. What happens when your regulars semi-retire and the younger people aren't coming out to support? That's a big challenge for all those bookers and marketing guys out there.

L_u_C_A_S
seems kind of harder for a city like montreal where most of the people are attracted to those top 40 type of clubs especially people from out of town.
