Maybe he should be reading the forum he moderates occasionally. There are lots of users here every day, make one of them a mod if diginut isn't here often. Nothing wrong with several mods.

One last thing: No one here is ego-less. It's an essential part of the creative process. Even when you are trying to keep your ego out of the way, keeping it out of the way is still a function of ego.
4. When making claims of ANY nature, be prepared to substantiate it. I actually had a bit of a problem when MSZ tossed the "Don't use Raphie for mastering" hand-grenade in that thread. While I don't think Raphie handled it well, I can see that he's got a legitimate grievance when several respected producers kind of take a crap on him.
5. Learn to argue correctly. It's called creative-conflict. There's no reason to just fly off the handle when someone's posting something you find objectionable. Find a way to articulate your argument cogently and respond and stop feeling like everything always has to absolutely, positively be responded to.

I think these problems are linked. Some here (no names) think that they are so great that they don't have to argue creatively, or give references, or support their arguments with any objective facts at all. This is just leading to completely hollow arguments which just don't inform or help anyone. There's no discussion or anything, and threads just turn into ad hominem attacks constantly.

7. Sorry you're displeased with the way things are, right now, cryophonik and I've noticed that you haven't been posting, lately. It would be a shame if you decided to leave, but I really don't think it's too late to turn this place around, either.
EDIT: 8. There's a strategic advantage to maintaining the moral high-ground. If you admit when you're wrong, are intellectually honest, and refrain from ad hominem attacks against forum regulars - even when you're feeling attacked - you're a lot better off than when you do engage in that sort of behavior. |
If that's directed at me then thank you, I'm assuming it is, because you didn't quote Raphie and mentioned his name, which would be weird to refer to someone in the third person when you're talking to them...
I'm not throwing a tantrum or anything or saying that I'll never post here again, I think that's immature and a good way to make yourself look silly when you come back a week later. But I think I'm definitely going to be quite selective about what threads I post in from now on. I've been spending a fair bit of time on here responding to stupid that just isn't benefiting myself or anyone else or sharing any useful knowledge. |

But seriously, what do u expect now? for me to bite back? that's what the whole issue is here, guys like u are just too trigger happy, I nearly got warmed up the other week, to give u the ass whooping sharade you clearly deserve, but then decided it's not worth it and it leads nowhere. So i rather just ignore your posts when you're in "that" mood again, or move on. Just to be very clear, things are relatively calm here, because i decide not to go where u go, not because i agree with u, or think you're right in any way. you are, for me, one of the main reasons TA sucks as is, with your ty provocing attitude. you're just a very nasty piece of work Kit. |

There's probably nothing wrong with having another mod and that might actually help. Maybe Diginut and Swamper will talk about doing that in the future, but the fact is that they'd need to be able to pick a moderator from the existing pool of core members, here. That's a lot of responsibility to take on and Swamper doesn't just make anyone a moderator. He's got to be pretty sure who that person is and that he can trust him or her, first.
I'm also going to submit that there's a good deal of discussion on this board that Diginut has asked kept relegated to his PM box. Not having access to his inbox, I've no idea how many people here are following that protocol. From what I've seen, however, some of the chaos on this board seems to stem from a breakdown in that communication. If anything, Diginut's apparent absence is possibly an object lesson in what happens when we insist on doing things our way after repeatedly being told to do it his. While the forum may be in dire need of moderating, we may not have done a very good job of earning it.

It actually wasn't direct specifically at you. Really, I don't like general pessimism in a place which still has a lot to offer. While the good content has been generally obscured, lately, I think it's wrong-headed to look at that and conclude the forum is beyond hope. That said, this place does seem to be suffering from a "broken windows" problem which takes the form of constant, unnecessary conflict.
It takes two to tango, as the adage goes, and two or more people insulting each other in a thread tends to bleed into the quality of the forum. If the level of discussion is so retarded that there's no point in carrying it on, bystanders shouldn't just remark that the forum's going to but, instead, point out the pattern and suggest that one or both of the posters stop replying or, at least, be a little more constructive about how they're doing it.
For future reference, I do try and be as direct and specific as possible. If I'm talking about something you've done, specifically, I'll make sure (as I did with Raphie and MSZ) to put the name down.

^^^ wasn't being pessimistic, just trying to draw attention to the fact that a lot of regulars on here have really gone too far with the flaming recently, and its really bringing the tone down. Also wanted to draw attention to the fact that there wasn't a lot of debate happening here because people are making unsubstantiated claims and then launching straight into a flame war when questioned/challenged to back up their argument. That doesn't help discussion at all, and makes the forum less about knowledge sharing and more about dick waving.
I'm glad that some others feel the same way. Obviously though a lot of people like things the way they are, which makes me think that maybe this isn't quite the place for me any more.

I've tried to give you the benefit of the doubt but I think you're deeply unhelpful a lot of the time. You made some pretty bitchy comments to kysora and it wasn't justified, it was just starting more . If you derail threads with personal attacks then expect for me to say something. If you then attack me personally, then expect me to tell you you're a tool and then ignore you, as I have in every thread in which this has happened. |

@EZ, i don't feel like being constructive in this thread, this is for me just getting stuff of my chest, not looking for collateral damage, just saying how i feel for once.
Now I've done that, i can decide to let it go and be positive in other topics, or choose just not to participate. |

Well I sent digi a PM, hopefully he'll either be a (tiny) bit more active or help us get a second mod who is. I don't want to see bannings all the time but a bit more merging and closing of off topic/repeated threads would be great. |
