You know, it kind of looks like a guy squatting and taking a big dump if you look at it sideways.

While I understand the outrage, and am similarly offended, I would suggest to you that the position of this "pastor" is in no way consistant with mainstream Christianity.

There is no mainstream christianity.

I don't see why people think that arguing with words is going to get them anywhere with religious people. The only thing they understand is violence.

Faith is blind, so words have no effect and its insane to think otherwise.

Words have an effect on sane people..normal folks who were brought up accepting religious dogmas without really thinking much about it. There's an old saying "You can't reason someone out of a position they didn't reason themselves into." While that is usually the case, it isn't always the case. Minds can be changed, but it depends on how "deep" they are into the belief system. Those who have been brainwashed and had their self esteem destroyed by constant references to "sin" and how wretched they are will likely be too frightened to question the only crutch they have (their friend Jeebus).. More moderate Christians who go to church mainly for the community and feel-good aspect however may be able to see sense..especially if they have a decent science education and aren't tied to biblical literalism.

I know it appears tactless to post something that criticizes Japanese thought right after what's happening there, but I assure everyone that malice is not my intent.

Japan has issues with sexism and racism and they're pretty irreligious. Hell, there is even a stigma against those with leprosy. France gets racist too, they're pretty irreligious also. I think religion is more a symptom than anything.

Look at some demographics of religious people. If you're a criminal, you're very likely to be religious. If you have education, you're more likely to be atheist or irreligious. An atheist convention in the USA is more likely to look like a star wars convention in terms of demographics, while it's other is going to be more varied depending on certain variables if you go to a religious convention because it has more of the everyman.

A lot of the so-called "new atheists" will say (I even think Harris even said it) that poverty isn't the reason for terrorist attacks like the libs say, since a lot of terrorists have degrees in engineering, and are some type of middle class. I reply with this: bin laden, guevara, pol pot, amongst others, were rich men who were in regions of instability. Last time I checked, the middle east region is a region of love and peace, so I'm 100% wrong.

Here is my feeble contribution to spreading reason, science, skepticism, and pwnage of theistic nonsense: http://www.youtube.com/user/bdwilson1000

None of these were made by me. I started mirroring videos a few months ago..anything that promotes critical thinking or takes a slap at magical thinking. Lots of this stuff (especially some of the Hitchens & Matt Dillahunty clips) helped shake me out of religion about 4 years ago..so I'm doing my best to spread the same content to others. With the exception of the Family Guy clip (I uploaded today), I think every vid makes at least one important point or delivers one solid punch against superstition.

I have never understood why people get upset when ignorant fools make outlandish claims.

It wouldn't be a problem if those ignorant fools didn't have the power to impose their outlandish claims on others through governments and public schools. If you grant the idea that certain magical books exist that can never be improved on, you run into immediate problems when it comes time to reason things out. Dogmatism shuts off debate and stifles progress. The problem is also that beliefs inform actions..and if you start accepting ideas for stupid reasons, you are much more likely to let in other bad ideas later. When lots of people do this and are never corrected or opposed, it snowballs into a negative effect on society.
