Anything that gets big gets less secure, save for perhaps google chrome, who are too clever for words.
In a company (and I've seen it happen) you will get people trying to use this marginally different software and they won't ing like it.
Just look at the uproar when facebook changes its look. And that's just to waste time not do work on.
And yeah apple stuff is currently the easiest thing to hack from OS to browsers. It will be a day of lol when the apple geeks are going to have to start shoveling on their computers like we have to just to stop getting buggered by malware. |

Lol, people are such ing sheep.
Is apples stuff really that easy to hack? I knew they hacked some ipads, but havent really read up on the subject. I know alot of macwhores are bragging about not getting viruses though. If it's that easy to hack, and so many people use their products, why aren't there more viruses written for it? |

There was some big conference for computer hackers recently and they had like a 5 man team spend an entire week writing a virus to exploit a Mac through Safari, which was immediately fixed by a patch put out by Apple. That hardly means that it's less secure. Hackers can get into any computer pretty much, it's just a matter of time and effort put into it. There are way more PCs in the world than there are Macs, so it's obvious that if you want to write a virus that affects the most people, you write it to attack a Windows based computer. It's not that hackers can't hack Macs, it's just that they don't. |

You've got to be kidding me, its a common tech business model. Building a customer base by offering something cheap, in this case music but then you over charge them for the hardware and software. Its also used to attract people to their other devices that they make most of their profit on (ipad, iphone, imac, etc). |

Right but they're talking about the actual profit margins that Apple makes from the sales of songs through iTunes, which is probably very low. |

Thats what I'm saying they make very little profit on the music. But this is how Apple has always made money off of their proprietary hardwre. In some ways they are even more anti competitive than microsoft. You can legally install Windows on any computer that you build, but not the case with Apple. |

But Apple is a brand. Both Apple computers and the Mac OSX are from the same company. Microsoft was in hot water because they were essentially forcing their OS to be standard on ALL PC manufacturers, along with Office, IE etc. Windows wouldn't have had all of the anti-trust problems that they did if it was the Windows OS that came on a Windows brand computer. Apple would be more anti competition if they started influencing Dell, HP, Acer, etc. to sell all of their new computers with OSX, Pages, Numbers, Keynote, and Safari standard on all their PCs. |

Their computers are Dell, HP, Acer, etc anyway. Apple products are practically PCs these days with a different OS. So what makes it different to Win that they have to overcharge? The fact that a large of their customer base buys their products based on image, not practicality. |

Just because they use Intel chips now doesn't mean they're the same as other PCS. Also, the computers themselves are not the same. Apple's are not as cheaply made as Dells, HPs, etc. and that is part of the reason they cost more. Yes, you're paying mostly for the name, but saying that Apple products are practically the same as PCS with a different OS isn't really true. |
