Thank god for that media pass. The line at 5 was silly long. I guess not only bal en blanc sucks in that department.
Food and drinks lines were crazy about 20-30 mins, I was drunk after the second drink on an empty stomach.
Too many punks with their dogs, what's with the dogs?? Why do they let pitbulls, and other dangerous dogs in there? Who knows what a dog will do with that sketchy crowd lol.
Another thing that sucks, huge piles of stuff on the dance floor, it's worse than girls leaving their purses in clubs, you would have huge bagpacks, and other laying there... Wtf
Other than that, it was really awesome, music was excellent, lots of TAs, lots of known faces, rain at the end was the magic touch that I managed to capture on film... To be continued.
Too bad the rest of the season's lineup is not to my taste, maybe only for the rumored Marco carola making an appearance.

People who bring their bags for piknic food/drinks are kind of out of options though. They can't really be expected to abandon their things on the grass while they dance, and dancing with backpacks is annoying for the dancer and those around him/her; it takes up way too much space and you're less aware of banging into people.

Great day! Congrats Maher for the amazing set! Delicious! Nice opening set from Matt!

its not so bad on the edge of the "dance floor", but when a group of 10 puts all of their stuff on the floor in the middle, it takes up space that 5 people could have.
maybe this could be addressed by doing what is done for the other outdoor shows on the island. Set up a small tent for bag check. It takes less than 10 minutes to put up, and i can tell you that it works smoothly for even the big ones like osheaga.
i had a blast, it was nice seeing many of you again. matt and maher looked like they were having fun and did a great job...i'm surprised i managed to tough it out to the end, but am glad i did.
see you next year:p
ps: there was one area with so many douchebags i thought i was at beachclub for a sec:p

Yeahh that front line up was wacked! Got there just shy of 3 pm. Side Entrance, walked right in. Bran was warming it up nicely.
Maher dropped some strong bombs...Dubfire...that Video Patius posted is awesome. Music was perfect. One of the better Pik Nik's I've been to. Great vibe, crowd wise and perfect touch with the rain coming in at the End. Good to meet some TA's on the way out in the Metro; Maher, Stereohead & Hakim.
Anyone make it out to Carlo last night ?
Heard it was dark, tribally, high energy thunder. Wanted to go, ran outta gas, needed the rest.

Thats an excellent idea, anyone from picnic reading this?
Some of those bags were huge!! I have a hard time understand why would anyone stuff this cumbersome to a dance party.

True its a bitch to move around the bags to, cause everyone surrounds them,so it takes like 20 mins to walk a 1 min walk :(

That was insane! What a crazy way to kick off the season. I feel bad for all the people that got stuck in the line(s), I couldn't believe how long they were! they should have more then 3 cash registers to make things go faster. I knew there was going to be a lot of people but THAT many..woah! definitely an amazing experience playing Piknic, the crowd was awesome and diverse as always. anybody know how many people were there yesterday? 8000? someone told me its the most people ever at Piknic but im waiting for a reliable source. nice seeing you all, had so many friends there including old ones from high school who i hadn't seen in over 5 years.
Oh and I agree 100% a bag check would be very beneficial. from the booth i saw people tripping on bags a couple of times :S

the parc jean drapeau people have the tents to lend out too, the only expense would be staffing it (and security at the end to prevent chaos at closing time of course.) It takes one phone call to the park people. They don't even charge for this service at the festivals, and it was very well received.
edit: and to avoid the lines? just go early. i got in in less than 5 minutes.
last time i park on the island though, there is simply not enough...metro longueuil from now on. i was lolling at how many people had tickets...the city mad a fortune 52 dollars at a time:haha:

booking dubfire and getting that many people proves my point
piknic + big bookings = more money for promoter + better party for us
