My fathers credit rating is actually taking a hit because he buys things in cash or on his bank card most of the time. Apparently if you purchase cars in cash it dings your scores. Such ing bull. |

That's ing stupid of you. You're going to need credit some day for something and having no credit history and no credit cards is incredibly idiotic. Doesn't matter if you can afford to pay in cash all the time or debit, having a strong credit history is important. |
LOL? :conf:
Why is it important if you can afford to pay in cash? |

So you don't see credit ratings as the biggest scam ever...?
You should read Super Sad True Love Story... That is pretty much going to be my answer to any statement defending credit. |

BTW the concept of personal debt beyond things like buying a house or a car is totally foreign in Japan. No one has credit cards really and almost everything is done in cash.
So if you think its that important, there is an example of a giant first world country that pretty much does everything in cash. |

Explain how the credit rating system is not a coercive institute?
To be considered a credible borrower you basically need to keep yourself in debt. If you actually work to reduce your debt level then you are penalized for it. Since some items that are considered almost required parts of daily life, like a house or an automobile require taking out a loan for most people it forces them to basically remain in or hold debt in the mean time between those purchases. It is a form of economic bondage. It's total bull. |

| money is just a piece of paper with a fancy picture of dead president on it but you seem pretty enamored with it. you should stick it to the man and barter instead. |

You should stick to doing comedy only while looking in the mirror. |

No, but my brother has lived over there for a few years, and the time I spent there this fall the only time anyone used a card was when we stayed in hotels and once when we bought Shinkansen tickets. Everything else is pretty much cash, I am sure Lira can attest to this. |
