They're all over Atlanta.

Edit: Only because they just took over Wachovia.

Monetary inflation and price inflation is still a major problem there.

Where? Here? No, it isn't. There's nothing like the hyperinflation we used to have in the 80's :conf:

Really? The last time I walked in a mall, I had the option of buying a t-shirt straight up for a ridiculous amount of money or making 3 separate payments because the price was so high. A Big Mac meal is 16 reals. A pair of Asics that are priced around $90-$100 in the states are roughly 300 to 400 reals. An iPad is 3000 reals. As for monetary inflation, the central bank just recently raised it's rates (again) in order to try and combat monetary inflation.

Where in Brazil, exactly, do you live? :conf:

My bank doesn't really offer too many rewards but they are a regional bank. I invested in them heavily right after the banking crisis and they have made me quite a bit of money. :p

Brasilia, DF.

Now, Doombot, there are two different explanations for what you're telling me. Firstly, these things have been expensive for ages: The same Big Mac was 10 reais when I stopped eating meat altogether 10 years ago... 60 centavos a year is not really that bad compared to the 1000% inflation a year we used to have back then. Mind you, McDonald's is one of the priciest fast food chains we have here.

The iPad (and electronic devices in general) is ridiculously expensive because of taxes - the price of most imported goods here in Brazil simply doesn't make any sense. A bloody Mini Cooper costs here twice as much as a model produced in the US. But, like I said, these things have never been cheap around here. Why? Taxes, not inflation.

Where did you see those shirts? Tommy Hilfiger is supposed to be expensive as hell here.

The inflation rate in Brazil was last reported at 6.5 percent in April of 2011. From 1980 until 2010, the average inflation rate in Brazil was 445.98 percent reaching an historical high of 6821.31 percent in April of 1990.

A little higher than the average worldwide inflation rate of 5.6%, but hardly terrible by any stretch of the imagination.

Edit: Also, McDonalds' food is much more expensive in most of the world compared to the U.S. Kind of odd, but true.

Yeah, Visa check card SON. What's wrong with you?

As for rewards, I will say that they are pretty stellar. Bunny pays for everything on her United card and gets a ton of miles for us to use when we fly. My bank has a similar rewards program you can enter your Visa debit card in that does the same thing. Death to credit cards!

Who the hell is Bunny?

About 5 dollars, I guess. A single beer costs around 80 (American) cents.

nou you'll need to credit for big purchases like a home, car etc.

big deal if you can buy a house right out cash money. its still not a wise investment choice. its better to leverage someone elses money then your own.

and quit acting like youre a millionaire. you live in your moms basement and play videogames.
