In other news, I wound up having to wait before I can apply for a major in philosophy. I'm yet to receive any funding for my PhD studies, and I'll have to work until the government starts paying me for being a smart-arse slacker :p
PhD + work + undergrad studies = Not a good idea :( |

| Anyone learn Chinese? It seems like a good choice but I'm put off by learning an entirely new alphabet. I was going to take first semester Latin but it's at 9am. :p |

Don't let the writing scare you - it's not that hard. As a matter of fact, I often miss those ideograms in English/Portuguese. Reading would be so much easier :(

It is actually not that bad, though I still know a rather limited amount of Kanji in Japanese.
Its actually worse, like Lira said, having to write it, especially when multiple characters can have the same sound but mean different things entirely (especially names...). |

one of my all time favorite classes in undergrad was an anthropology class... we got into all that stuff with the Yanamami indians in Brazil. fascinating. |
