Mixing without cans on cd is not only possible, but really not that hard if you know the math of your tracks (you don't need 2000's for this or wavforms...beatmatching on cdj is painfully easy guys). The rest is just timing, and it get even easier if you use filters. (or if you really want to cheat, just edit all of your tracks to be in the same Bpm like Morillo the Gorillo used to do.)

That being said, he wasn't doing jack in that vid. I get what he is saying and stuff about the pyro, as I've seen many acts do similar things from working at many a festival featuring any type of music that you can imagine. He might get a pass, if he wasn't such a self loving petulant prick who just constantly runs his mouth to get publicity. Other than putting out a record or 2 like 6 years ago that showed promise, he has done nothing to make me believe that his whole sets are not pre recorded a la Offer "cousin It" Nissim.

I could play devils advocate and say that no one says anything when Daft Punk does it. They essentially press play and do nothing but the robot for the remainder of the show. It looks great though, and at least I can admit to listening to their music without getting that sad, "Oh" from people.

Dude when you nail it, you nail it. If he came out and said "hey listen this happens at points so the visuals match the music" I doubt anyone would care. But to say "oh I would never do that and all the haters are idiots f off", then get busted and say "oh no sometimes I do that but all the haters are still idiots f off"... Got no sympathy for this tool.

For sure, especially with the 'hey it happens' instead of back peddling like a ****...

the diff being they actually play their tunes, as in midi triggering .

and on the topic of mixing without cans, sure it's easy to simply mix tunes together, but if the kind of djing your doing doesn't require cans, then frankly you're being a boring dj.

I've never seen them live and wouldnt be able to tell from the crowd anyway...

but all the recorded gigs i've seen, they barely touch anything..at least that's what it seems to me.

you guys are elitist punks lol.

you want the music to be more popular and win awards but you dont want anyone else hearing it but you.
every genre has their radio feel good cheese to promote their culture and type of music to the general public. In hip hop their is tooooooooooooons of pop cheese, even some of my favorite artists create a pop cheese song that I can't stand to promote their album, but I don't mind, I'm one of those people that are willing to dig deep into the genre to find the things I like.

I think every genre needs its radio cheese if you want the genre to grow, create awareness and make money. Because if it weren't for the Jay-z's and Eminem's there probably wouldnt be enough money for the consequence's and shad's of the game.

nah. hiphop has been around since late 70s - early 80s (as a movement and way of life). got nothing to do with eminem at that point.

I just said it could be done easily, not that it was recommended. Having just listened to parts of one of your mixes...you need possibly 3 pairs of cans.

that's because you can't see what they're doing from the front.
there are kids around where you can see them doing what they're doing, kinda interesting.

here's a vid of the pyramid and equipment they use:

Art Department's Jonny White has let Swedish House Mafia's Steve Angello know exactly what he thinks of him during an interview with the Bright & Shiny blog.

The No.19 label boss said;

"I just heard some ed up , actually. That Steve Angello was caught DJing a mix CD, and his response to it was something like...

“Oh, I can DJ without headphones!”

"Honestly, I'll go on record right here: Steve Angello, you're a jerkoff. That's some ing bull, right there. What the are you getting paid for? This guy's getting paid five times what I am. He's a ing joke, and don't get me started on his music."
