Mp3 Banned From The Next Mix Comp?

Please think about your vote.
1. Mp3 mixers could be using any kind of software, which include Auto BPM matching.. which is CHEATING.
2. Scrapping the Mp3 Mixers would mean the results would probably wont be as close.
3. There will be more room for proper 12" and Cd dj's to enter the competition. The comp becomes Full very fast.

| IMO, the comp should only have proper equipment DJs, but there is no way of monitoring it. As for the auto-beat counter efforts, u can't prove it either way, not that they are any good, and ppl can lie about format used, so in principle yes, in practise, probably no. But my vote goes to 12" and CDJ only. |

I'd live to participate on a mp3-only comp :)
It'd feel quite awkward to compete with "real" dj's with mp3s... |

Not that I'm entering or anything, but I use Software for mixing, but I don't use any conventional auto mixing software.
I use SoundForge, Vegas 1.0 and Cubase
Vegas for beatmatching since It allows you to pitch shift in realtime, Cubase for mixing the beatmached songs and Soundforge for general mastering.
But as it's been said, there's no way to tell if someone used turntables or a software solution. |

so you are telling me u don't even really DJ ???
Basically sequencing the tracks together, the total anti-thesis of the art of DJing  |

DC- Thats alright but a programs that matchs the beat is not fair..
yes..using a wave studio is much harder than a normal turntable but when the programs allows atuo beat match then it aint fair..
SO Dave C, can i use a very crappy wave studio to do mixing (Creative Wave Studio lol)....trust me this program has very low features making mixing hard |

| can u give us screenshots of this wave studio or a link or something |

Sorry. I am proposing all sofware mixing is scrapped. |

i agree with dave i think it should be scrapped or another seperate competition should be made for mp3 mixing because im sure it requires a certain skill as well, but not the same of mixing vinyl or CD!
1. i think its unfair on the people who actually have to have the vinyl they want to play, mp3 can be downloaded at will and therefor they can have all the newest best tracks that arent even out on vinyl!
2. mixing with programs takes less skill IMO than that of mixing with vinyl and/or CDs!
3. people with vinyl or CDs have had to practice for however long its taken them to become good enought to enter a competition but people with programs can just open it up and cick *beatmatch* or what ever the auto bpm match button is! |

Are you kidding me...Mixing on turntables is easier for me, the quality might not be the same but at least you can mix your favorite tunes on turntables... |

what are you talking about?
your saying mixing on turntables is easier than pressing a button that says *auto beatmatch*?!
and before you can mix your favourite tunes on turntables you have to buy them or get hold of them!
ie an mp3 DJ could send in a mix with Ligaya! could you? no cos you dont own it yet! thats the point im making that its unfair on actual DJs, cos they cant get hold of the 15 latest, best tracks nd mp3 DJs could! |

Question for u Dave.
Are u proposing this cos of ease of beatmatching with software and Mp3 ?
just thought i would ask as there is on the market a huge amount of decks and mixers with built in BPM counters.
