I am going to put my two cents in this
I recently had a chance to hear John 'OO' Fleming @ Eden in Ibiza last month and was absolutely amazed at how he mixed and the track selection he chose. I have immediately begun to search for all his comilations and mixes over the years due to this one event and was further satisfied. Fleming in my opinion has a nack for finding "hidden gems", tracks that are not labelled as anthemic, yet they produce that feeling in the audience. He was truly amazing.
Although i havent seen Johan live, he is amazing just so..... but in a different sense. If you want to hear epic uplifting predictable anthems that are always played by other very popular dj's...go see Johan. If you want to hear pure and essential trance,,, trance that feels like you are hearing one beautiful song throughout... go see Fleming.
I for one will go see Johan becuase i have never seen him live... but that is not to say that I like him more than Fleming....they are two dj's that express trance in two different ways, yet each is appealing. |

bah..personally it's just a matter of taste, what one calls another person likes, so you can comment all you want about something, it won't make a difference, because people that don't share your point of view will just think you full of ...And I my friend don't share you point of view, but I respect it...see ya at Johan:tongue2
I think of it as opera, with highs and lows, tradgedy and triumph...or classical music...the beautiful calm, before the storm. Where as progressive is the same dam thing for 2 hours...Gets really boring..and quick.
and for the others who commented on Johan and stuff. please..I am not going to argue, I think it would just bring this forum to a new High in geektom. It's like star trek fans arguing who's better Darth vadar or darth maul.. |

rrrrrrrrrriiight....... so if you can respect peoples opinions, why don't you let them voice their opinions on the forum. I mean isn't this what the forums are for? So that all of us can have an inteligent discusion about the kind of music we love? |

I agree with some points he said, and I think he said them well..that's why he has my respect.
As for what I am on about..if you can't understand it, then don't even bother trying too, it was a point about social interpretation, and not a comment on what he said. (don't get confused)It's like people that listen to opera and say it's just a lady singing, where others find the true deepness of it.
And yea..voicing your opinions is cool, that's what this board is for I agree, it's just when people voice negative opinions on other music and DJ's is when it turns to plain stupitidy. I have never once said anything bad about John 00, but in retourte, some people started talking about Johan..I mean ya, State good things about the DJ you like, and don't just say this sucks that sucks..Cause that's when the boards will turn into a bunch of lamers and no one will come here. |

different topics going on here i see...yes musik is about taste, but lets get serious! cheese & quality dont mix! i mean for me trance is not for energy, its about ing around with your mind (thats another story you can argue), but thats wat i realized after years of listening to trance. uplifting/epic which is usually the emotional plays around with you, where as deep/dark/tech trance is more of the ENERGY as i would say. Fleming doesn't spin uplifting, for me he spins proper trance and leaves the cheese for your lunch-time sandwich LOL :haha:
im not gonna debut here over Gielen coz enough has been said. lets just all have a good time at the parties we go too ;) |

ahhh, the ignorance...its funny how the moment someone says trance is, to quote you, the same damn thing, everyone that listens to trance gets a fit and say "you just don't understand" and then they go on saying the same about progressive, and in turn you don't understand it. Stop being a damn hypocrite. You don't understand progressive...
I'm not saying progressive is the greatest genre ever, I love trance and progressive pretty equally. Both are awesome, and spun by the right person, both can genre's can me "orgasmic", heheh. Just cause progressive isn't going at 140BPM, use the "umc umc umc" beat or have a massive anthem buildup 2 minutes into each song...doesn't mean its boring. Open your mind a little man...don't listen to it expecting any of that stuff...cuz thats how I was a few months back and laughed at anyone who liked prog...heh, and here I am now defending it. |

I think the only ignorant part here is that you are assuming that I don't listen to proggie stuff. When I have been listening to it ever since Digger made it a genre. Obviously by your statment..that's about 5 years longer then you have been listening to it. Not to mention I been spinning progressive for two years now.
I love proggie music, but it can get boring, you have to be in the right mood for it, and I'm not in that mood now. Like anyone that's been listening to Trance for a long long time, I switch it up...from time to time..that's the beauty of Trance music..it's a love hate relationship, but it's so versatile a genre that you can do that :stongue:
Anyway, I appreciate all the attention I am getting, but lets put this thread back online about who is going to what party. |
