As for the essay - you could learn something. Read it again.

Who is this? I think I am pretty patient with people on here, but this guy just pops in and tell everyone off.

You're not that cool buddy! Why is your idea of the scene any better than any one elses? DaveT is one of the most experienced people I have come across.

Guarantee DaveT knows a ton more than you do.

If it's something you really want to have some pull and get recognized, maybe bring on a friend that is in marketing or PR to help guide the public face of the production?

Bingo!

I'm willing to bet a nut that I've been in this world a lot longer the DaveT, or pretty much anyone else on here. But that is neither here nor there.

DanceSafe is a good friend of mine, and when I heard that he was getting hated on by the people here, I decided to come for a look-see. Only to find that people were smoking him hard and dissing his work because they've seen a 10 minute trailer. If there's anything you need to know about DanceSafe is that he cares about the music and scene as much, if not more, than anyone I know. Hell, he took the time to make a ing documentary about one of the most significant moments in rave history in the last 10 years - yup, I can remember that far back, and much further than that. What the have you done for the scene?

If there's one thing I can't resist its capping on ignorant/uninformed people that talk . So, that's what I'm doing. I targeted DaveT specifically because his post pissed me off the most.

As for my idea of the scene - I don't really have an idea. Things are different than when I started - when most of you were playing Candyland - that's why I don't go that often anymore.

Bottom line - recognize that DanceSafe is doing what nobody here has ever done, making something that lasts longer than a fleeting memory or a story about a party that you tell someone 10 years from now. Recognize the effort...and reserve your judgments until you have a basis to make one.

I not mad...

completely understand coming to defend a friend. but to a certain extent. Right now, no one cares about the documentary. They care mostly about bashing the thing instead. Probably not the best marketing approach. DanceSafe was doing a good job defending his product. Ya just made it look worse.

Try posting in the c0r and see what there opinions are.

Smoking him hard? Only one person was hating. But that said, this really isn't a raver forum so interviews with a bunch of candy kids really isn't going to go over to well. And that's pretty much all we see in the trailer. Most people here don't go to massives and those of us that do go despite what they are. I personally never really liked them but my enjoyment has grown since they have turned 18+.

If all they care about is bashing it, as you say - then them anyway. To judge something you've never seen is pretty stupid, especially when it's addressing a world that gave birth to [and made possible] most of the music you people listen to...that you have a forum allegedly dedicated to.

As for the marketing, I'll leave that to my boy. Something tells me he won't be heartbroken if you and yours don't like it. And if you do, we'll see if you have the stones to necro this thread and admit it.

Har har har, very funny! Let me clarify some of the confusion that may exist about the topic of my film. Yes, it is centered around the controversy which occurred from EDC last summer, so the main subjects (and subsequently the primary audiences who will go see this) are the ravers in the LA massive scene. With that said, the story and the controversy has larger ramifications than that.

The themes I will be addressing in this story include a critical
analysis of media coverage on raves, the controversy over harm reduction measures as a response to drug-related risks, the apparent resurge of MDMA use in America in the last 5 years, the economy of LA County and its dependence on large festivals for revenue, and the attraction of EDM events in LA to fans across the country. So the video in the original post of this thread shows ONE theme out of many that will be in the film. Whether these themes are worthy of your time as a moviegoer is up to you to decide.
