Also I've decided to take a more apathetic view towards politics. It makes it a lot easier to like Kev. :gsmile:

Let's have some fun with Democrat hypocrisy:

Obama, March 20th, 2006:
quote:
The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies. Increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that ‘the buck stops here. Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better.

:stongue: :stongue: :stongue:

But wait, there's more! After the vote, same day:
quote:
We are voting on the budget today. It’s a sad state of affairs, we just voted to increase the debt limit. The U.S. total debt at this point exceeds eight trillion dollars. That’s eight trillion with a “t”. So we’ve got to get our fiscal house in order here in Washington. I’m not sure it’s going to happen under the current leadership in Congress.

Every single Democrat voted against raising the debt ceiling. Every one.

And here's your Senate majority leader Harry Reid scolding Bush for daring to have the gall to ask for a debt ceiling raise. He's the absolute worst:

I've actually come to appreciate Kevin's posts, because I would never get that point of view otherwise. Even though I wholeheartedly disagree most of the time, it's important to get both sides of the story.

Thank you Kevin.

Wow, you totally got me there :(

Too bad I'm not a Democrat and I hate them (just not as much as I hate the Republicans).

Next argument, please.

Where did your post go :P

And the republican's are refusing to negotiate. Congress needs to make compromises. Refusing to add in any tax cuts whatsoever is ing stupid.

Not really sure how you seriously can just blame the Democrats for this catastrophe.

Congress IS making compromises... they started at the position of no debt limit increase whatsoever. Now they are at the point of saying, ok we'll raise it but we want dollar for dollar cuts and no tax raises- with a reform of the tax code. Evidently, they had a deal about to go down this afternoon and at the last second, Obama demanded an extra $400 billion in tax increases, which is why Boehner walked out. You think it's a good idea to raise taxes in this economy- that it will HELP the job growth and hiring situation, thus truly broadening the tax paying base? lol. insanity.

Political showmanship. Same as the Democrats voting against it a few years ago. They

I think it's an essential thing to do in this economy. So do a lot of other economists (including the man who invented Reaganomics :wtf: )

I'm sure he demanded $400 billion at the last second.

I don't know why we can't just do a 3-1 cuts to tax increases deal while reforming entitlements and reforming the tax code. Stupid politicians.
