lol why do gay ppl keep on complaining when we use "their name" as an insult or something ?

come on , we all know str8 is normal and gay is anormal , and tolerating gay ppl doesn't mean we support them in their "anormal" sexual preference ... and please don't tell me gay ppl are just normal like straight people ... HELL NO ... gay is so anormal ... have you ever seen gay dogs , gay flowers or gay bacteria ? ... but i still respect them and treat them like human beings as long as they don't try to hit on me.

and the whole homophobia thing , why would straight ppl be forced to "like/love" gay ppl , hang out and join them in their "gay fantasy" things (acting like queers for example) ? just because someone doesn't like how gay ppl act doesn't mean he's homophobic.

and my point is : gay ppl are normal ppl with anormal sexual preferences (which i don't mind as long as they leave me alone)

off its not done in the UK.
If something is then its gay.
Obviously because you are gay and people know they avoid saying things are gay when you are around.
I do it when im with a gay friend.
Gay means happy anyway

Another point brought up was that term is used to describe something 'lame' but doesn't suggest that being gay is lame WTF?? of course it does. You are giving meaning to the word.

well, I know that i use the 'term in question' a lot myself. Not only that, i use it in german too. I have friends, who are homosexual, i do not use the term around them. I guess, i am a bad person for being so insensitive, but i have a question for you:

You are homosexual. You are offended if someone calls something 'gay'.

Assume, I was unable to walk (i.e. I am LAME). Should I not be offended when people call stuff 'lame'?

Maybe you see my point. If we play this game on and on, we can pretty quickly see that, you can say very few things without offending people.

Honestly, I have never really cared much for the homosexual community. Yes, i am homophobic and been for years, maybe because I am insecure, but that is not the heart of this debate. Anyhow, I have never really cared much, and never though much about calling this and that or a person 'gay' in order to show that I did not agree with their behavior, or I disliked that 'thing' (a song, the way a car looked etc.).

Maybe, the fact that you raised your point, will make me think about this issue some more, but i must say, that i have not though much about it, even when i was aware of not using that term in certain company.

I understand that you dislike the fact that people use that term, but -first ammenment quote- in the US you are allowed to say what u want. If you don't like it, I must say, that you might want to consider not coming to these board.
NOTE: I don't dislike you, I don't want to you leave, but I think that you wouldn't read books that offended you either, would you? I mean, it is your CHOICE to read these forums and so you can choose not to read them, but I don't see how you have the right to forbid me to use the words I want to use?

one last sentence, while I appear to be on the other side, I can assure you that I will re-evaluate my usage of the word 'gay' and maybe this debate will convince me to become a little more PC, but -honestly- I don't think so.

I hope that you don't misinterpret this post as a personal offence, which it is not intened to be, but rather a representation of my views on Political Correctness.

You confused me, you say you have Gay friends, yet you are Homophobic? how is this possible. And i won't be leaving the message boards, as i have said , it doesn't bother me that much, i just thought it was something which needed to brought to everyones attention.

this will be the last time i post in this thread, everything that needs to be said has been said - and all of the Homophobic posters out there are going to continue doing what they were doing, at least the more liberal minded of you out there will notice this happening more, and maybe comment on it in the future.

Thank you and good night.

Well, I have gay friends, yet I am homophobic. I don't think that there is much of a problem. I mean, I don't let my fears prevent me from doing anything...

well that's an interesting contradiction :)
