well im not gonna sit here and draw all the comparisons as to what tiesto did first and how exactly armin copied it. thats been done before and i dont mean in that stupid youtube video way either.
what i will say though is i dont really blame tiesto for doing what hes doing now. i dont really like it, i wish he would still be playing trance, because other than pvd (when he was at the his best, the vinyl days before he ever discovered ableton), no one has ever done trance as mindblowingly as tiesto. but i can understand why he doesnt do it anymore. he used to love it, and then he got too big for himself. until 2005 tiesto was amazing. 06, 07, 08 he got really stale. i guess he got tired of always playing the same stuff. and in 09 he started to change. we all grow up, why is it so wrong for tiesto to move on?
most people say hes only doing it for the money but i just dont buy that because tiesto isnt only doing it for the money. yes, money is nice, every single person on this planet including you and me and even tiesto and armin want more of it. but, if this new tiesto style was all about the money, why did he give up the in search of sunrise series? why no more dvds? he could easily release a dvd every year and it would sell like crazy. why did he leave blackhole and leave all his stuff behind. the new allure tiesto had almost nothing to do with. they were just some unfinished ideas that were left behind when tiesto left blackhole. so blackhole hired somebody to finish the just so they could make a few extra bucks on tiestos name. so many people think tiesto made that album still and its almost completely false! these days i think tiesto is actually doing what he wants to do. and honestly i can understand that a lot of fans feel like he turned his back on us but isnt it time to get over it already? it is what it is.
i just think its funny that people swear armin is so different than tiesto, and yes in a way he is because he still plays trance, but who was the first person to start playing for example ken loi stuff? tiesto was! and now surprise surprise armin is playing ken loi even in this set. those are the tiny things that bother me. it seems to me tiesto is a bit more adept at finding his own music. tiesto finds these gems that no one else has ever heard of (and a ton of them never even get big but by god are they good tunes, thats maybe the only reason i still listen to tiesto). armin kinda just gets a bunch of armada stuff and then whatever else is popular. but hes not the one that made it popular. where tiesto starts it himelf.
i dunno... this is already way too long than i wanted the reply to be. lol. this wasnt meant to be a tiesto vs armin thing. because they both could be doing better. as a matter of fact the entire industry could be doing better.
and now pressure? thats a track tiesto started playing in april! he doesnt even play it anymore i dont think and now armins playing it. that kinda stuff bothers me. |
