I'm wondering if Digweed will be added to the techno/tech line-up. He usually stops off in LA and plays Avalon right before WMC, but that weekend Erick Morillo is booked there. And Diggers is in Texas the night before, so I'm hopeful. |

where does "heavy-hitter" rank in relation to "longstanding trance legend" a notch below, a notch above? above and beyond "LTL"? |

| For all you techno freaks, Chris Liebing is playing. It's on the CLR website. I hope he comes to Miami the following weekend. |

Hey guys, wondering if I can get a little help from you.
We'll be making the trip from Canada to attend Beyond and will be arriving in LA early afternoon on Friday March 16th and leaving the early morning of Sunday March 18th. We plan to book a hotel in San Bernardino because it's close to the event of course.
My question is, what would be the best way to get from LAX to San Bernardino while using public transportation? (And vice versa)
I've heard LA's transportation is not the best however I'm sure there are ways to get around using the metro train, busses, etc. But if not, what would be your guys' 2nd option? We don't plan to rent a car because we plan on being intoxicated at the event and our flight back is at 7:00am :( But if we have to we will.
Thanks! :) |

Is there anyway you could change your ticket to Ontario instead of LAX? That would put you a lot closer to San Bernardino, and getting a cab probably wouldn't be too expensive from there.
I think Metrolink goes to San Bernardino. Check out www.hopstop.com they give you public transportation directions. |

How old are you? Rent a car for one 24 hours...
Cost under $50 |

if you are dead set on not driving, take a shuttle. public transportation would be a nightmare to try and get to LAX for a 7AM flight on a sunday. |

| I'm just 23 but we do have a friend over 25 so if we have to rent a car, we'll do it. I've been looking at some shuttle services and it may seem to be the best fit. They should be able to accomodate ppl at like 5am right? The 7am flight is the killer though, had no choice since it was the cheapest one to get. |

i don't see too much of a problem trying to get the shuttle... but i'd start inquiring now to make sure its no problem.
are you flying international?
if so, you'll probably have to basically leave your hotel around 4am at the latest... |

Super Shuttle is popular here, looks like a one-way trip to LAX from San Bernardino is $79 + $9 for a second passenger. For an international flight, LAX recommends arriving 3 hours ahead of time (though when I did that early in the morning for a flight to Amsterdam last September, I went from curb to gate in about 20 minutes).
Here's perhaps the most important part: Finding taxis after Beyond Wonderland is an absolute nightmare, I waited over 2 hours for one once. With some 40,000 people at this event, you'll need to leave an hour early or prepare to wait a really, really long time.
There's a round trip bus to Beyond Wonderland on Groovetickets.com that leaves from UCLA for $35. There's also a bus service called Flyaway that leaves from a parking lot near UCLA to/from the airport for something like $10. If you decided to do this, might make more sense to book a hotel near UCLA and do a little sightseeing in LA on Friday. I assume that the bus would leave right after Beyond Wonderland and get you back to LA by 4, perhaps?
Given the early flight back, I would tend to agree that getting a car is your best bet though. Trying to connect through any forms of public transportation that early on a Sunday may not even be possible.
Edit: Flyaway bus from UCLA doesn't start until 6a.m. Metrolink from San Bernardino to Union Station doesn't start until 7a.m.
Either rent a car or take a shuttle, those seem to be the best two options. |

Thanks for the insight guys, much appreciated.
If the Flyaway service is open & available that early on the Sunday morning, then I think this option might be our best one. Beyond closes at 2am and I'm guessing they'll start boarding people on the UCLA bus around 2:30 and it should arrive at approx 3:30-4am. If Flyaway is not available, then worst case scenario we can even take a taxi from here because it won't cost that much.
Now all we would have to hope is that everything runs it course properly and that there are no delays in terms of getting people on the bus and what not.
Thanks for the update on Flyaway. I like the idea of taking the UCLA roundtrip shuttle bus because at least it'll keep us in the Los Angeles area on the Friday & we can do some quick sightseeing and what not. I had one question regarding the bus though, do they start the boarding after the festival is done or during the last half-hour or last hour of the event? I ask this because I wanna stay right to the bitter end :D and I remember for Tomorrowland in Belgium we got screwed badly because they started to board patrons with an hour left in the show and we had no clue while we were dancing away to the last minute and ended up missing the bus that was to take us to the correct train station. Now that would suck if it happened again! |

I'm a little irked that Markus, Ferry, and A&B are all missing from the LA lineup. Armin is the only "heavy-hitter". That said, I'll be seeing Markus and Ferry at Avalon this month, and Insomniac says they're doing another special A&B event, so no biggie.
I hope Adam Beyer is on during Arty or Gareth's sets. I'll be pretty bummed if they schedule him the same time as Armin. :/ |
agreed decent lineup, but not amazing like other asot lineups. |
