i think Kaskade is partnered with LiveNation, right?

and SHM have a 360 deal with their record label who put up a lot of the $ for the Masquerade Motel shows and handles much more than the usual amount of promo stuff for them.

to the other poster: it takes a huge amount of work to put on a big show as you know... to try and do that in another country without any help would be really tough.

cool1g to the rescue. i didn't have answer to the SHM and Kaskade thing.

Source re: Kaskade & Livenation? I can't find any reference. In fact some shows (AZ, OR, maybe others) are "presented by" Insomniac.

And re: record label that could apply to Armin as well then, right?

If you think Virgin and Armada are on the same level, then I suppose so...

No argument there... but I'm not talking about using a local promoter vs. promoting it yourself. I'm literally talking about the number of stages. Insomniac does solo shows for Axwell, Above and Beyond, Tiesto, etc. I think Armin could easily do his own show at the Home Depot Center and have Insomniac promote it.

He did an "Armin only" in 2009 for TAO on NYE. Another was planned for Monster Massive last year but the entire event got cancelled because go ventures screwed up the location. In fact, the whole reason ASOT 550 came to LA was as a gesture on Armins part to make up for the cancellation.

He also did the armin only open air block party downtown. I got pushed by one of paris hilton's huge body guards cause i accidentally walked too close

I dont even remember what year that was. 2008? 2007?

e: had to be 2007, i wasnt 21 and had to use a friend's ID

Agree with you re: bathrooms. I do think that was Insomniac's fault - they had no one directing the line for the bathrooms so it just turned into a mess,

If there's enough bathrooms, you don't need someone directing traffic. More bathrooms please.

What I was trying to say is that he should do the event on his own, rather than being part of a festival with multiple stages. I was at Armin Only in 2009 but it wasn't REALLY armin only bc deadmau5 was playing at another stage, there was a drum n bass stage, etc.

There should be an event with one stage - ASOT or Armin Only. Or a multi-stage ASOT event like the one in Den Bosch or Moscow this year. Armin keeps talking about how the US is the place to be now, but he doesn't seem confident enough to book his own event in LA quite yet (although he did Giant Village in 2007 I believe?). Tiesto just did it, Armin should go that route as well, IMO.

Giant Village had a 3nd stage. But I agree, he doesn't need a festival. But do it at the Pond (closer to me ;))

oh for sure that would work fine. i thought you meant have Armin's people handle the putting on the entire show themselves.

I believe Armin owns his records label, right? whereas the SHM are signed to I think Interscope which is a huge...

I know Livenation sponsored the Identity Festival last year he headlined and I believe they are co-sponsoring the tour this year. How deep that relationship works i really don't know.

Also, a lot of talent agencies are getting heavily involved making special deals with artists playing festivals and tours...

I went into Beyond Wonderland holding very high expectations for Armin and the whole ASoT550 Lineup. I'd like to say that Armin and the rest of the DJs at the ASoT550 stage blew my expectations off the scale.

I thought it was going to be amazing, but it turned out to be one of the most epic and satisfying events i have been to in a while.

Overall i saw that the crowd vibe was a lot better than usual, the rain added to a great atmosphere but i was sure some dumbass was going to freeze to death. My friends were working the water booth by the ASoT stage so i was able to go through the night without spending much.

Also the sound quality/speaker setup and light show was incredible.

Armin blew my mind, he sure knows how to throw a massive shindig.

On the downside, the crowd out here needs some education,i listened to the broadcast when i got home and heard some interviews that made me cringe. :whip:

PS. We need an Armin Only ASAP
PSS. DJs need to play more classics in their sets.

Ok, I guess I will write a short review...

Got free VIP tix, and learned that I would NEVER pay for VIP, shorter bathroom line, chips and salsa, and two drinks is not worth the double ticket price! My friends got in about 1 minute after me with GA.

The VIP tix i was given at the Hilton turned out to be GA, so i got the the event with wristbands and the wrong tickets... WTF?? Someone behind us gave us more VIP tix so we got in, six tickets later....

Friendly staff, cool VIP lounge that was empty.... VIP bathrooms by the stage were out of water and a complete mess by 8pm, so you got to piss in the dark with no water to flush it down.

I only really went to the ASOT stage, it was amazing!!!!! People were decently nice other than the shovers who someone don't realize that you can just tap people on the shoulder and get through faster AND easier...

The sets were all great and different than expected.

WHY NO HEATERS ANYWHERE?
Why no tent over the line to keep people dry while waiting? Would it really cost you that much Insomniac??

Once again, Insomniac proved that they can throw a great party for a lot of people that they don't give a f*ck about.... Why can't they just invest a tiny bit back and be 200% better?
They have improved, but they have a LONG way to go....

Overall, I am glad that I went. Glad that I booked my hotel on the northeast side of town to avoid ALL traffic, and glad that ASOT 550 came to Cali.

I will never go to a massive in SoCal again.
