I'm extremely good on picking up people's feelings and vibes - until it comes to me. I'm great at picking up on things between other people, but then it comes to being turned in on me and I'm worse than useless. |
Same here dude. |

but there have have been a few stand out people who just came across as extremely void. Don't know how else to describe it. |
I think I've seen the same. People who don't flirt, tell dirty jokes, talk about sex, make out, play in an erotic way, or have any kind of sexual energy. There's a difficulty in describing it, because it's hard to imagine such a person, and asexuals can be unique despite the absence of all these behaviors. |

People have asked me if I am asexual before, because I pretty much fit that description. I didn't even comment on finding people attractive.
This thread is prompting a bit of a personal revelation, actually. Although the revelation is not that I'm asexual. |

| Haha, I'm not gay either. Just ed in the head. Or in the painful process of recovering from that, anyway. |

I have to agree with Jenny and Jay here. It isn't very difficult to pick up on the cues if you know what to look for... micro expressions, body language (angle, positioning, phisiological reactions), behaviours (preening, mimicry, etc), intonation, etc. Granted, I'm a trained investigator but really just being observant of others during interactions rather than being a conversational narcissist and you should be able to pick this up with ease.

See that's the thing, it's about training and experience. I can read people a hell of a lot better now that I could say 5 years ago, but that's because part of my job is to react to people and read their subtle cues. A good sales job will do that to you, essentially making you better with people.
In terms of an actual Asexual person, I think most people that seem like that are just shy, reserved, prefer to keep to themselves and so on. Not everyone is an extrovert. People are different in the way that they behave and project themselves towards others. |
