random drunk question - why are cigarettes, which a government regulated product as is liqour and beer, sold at different prices within ontario? I can get a pack of parliaments across the st from me in scarborough for $9 taxes in, but in kitchener, the same pack of cigarettes costs $11?? :conf:

Its because its Scarborough, and you are buying bootlegged cigs.

I used to work at the lcbo. 9 out of 10 employees are over payed pieces of sh*t. I quit cause I couldn't deal with union seniority and lazy fat people getting my hours just cause they have been there longer. Although how can you blame them, the people that do work their ass off get no credit and probably have to take orders from some fat moron. That's why your booze cost so much. That and like smokers, alcoholics are hard on public health care/jail, everyone chips in cause a certain few can't handle their drink. Now on privatization, might save money, but booze will no longer be regulated at a high standard. This mean more under-age drinkers, drunks being served then getting into their cars and killing people. The only good thing about lcbo is that they are forced to give a sh*t and keep booze out of the wrong peoples hands. Also some of the employees really know their stuff and can provide better customer service then the norm. I used to always ask why they cared so much since its a government monopoly....

p.s. 3 pints in while writing this.

Have a good weekend

i think the main reason behind last call at clubs is crowd control, they want people out of the streets by 3am so less police force has to be present after a certain time, also i think last call reduces the amount of crime/fights/people getting extremely faced, although you can do all those regardless if you really want to, it still has some benefits to it. If people could drink all night long especially in afterhours clubs, it would be a disaster.

If they want crowd control they would have no last call, but different bars close at different times, pubs first, lounges next, discos, then clubs...not every single place that servers of different kinds of people from each establishment being let out all at once.

And the faced thing, IMO the belligerent face comes from binge drinking, just drunk and sloppy is from bendering all day. Pretty much what I'm saying, if I knew i had more time to drink, I would not rush my drink and it would pace itself naturally. So I may get drunk in the long run, quantity over time, but not force by trying to get as much before time ends.

privatize the lcbo and abolish last call. Then maybe we can join the 20th century (and no thats not a typo)

cue the "if jayx1 supports it, im going to speak out against it" crowd :D
PivotTechno
Cue the "Jayx1 proudly showing his insecurities on teh intarwebs" broken record again :p

Well we need some way of keeping warm here!

Actually alcohol masks the fact that your core temperature is dropping when your drinking out in the cold. You'd be dying and not know it.

Fair enough, but then why was it repealed?

And, I've been watching alot of this, and it looks like drinking, crime, prostitution, corruption and violence still happened! :p Every time I watch this show I want to pour myself two fingers of a nice scotch or whiskey.

I seen this documentary a while ago and it's an excellent watch.
