Luck. There's no cops on the particular road they're on. This isn't rocket science:stongue: |
You're right, it isn't rocket science. Stupid people don't get in accidents or pulled over for doing stupid things whether they're drunk or sober. But yeah, I'm sure it's just luck that there are people who drive drunk multiple times every week for 20-30 years and never once get pulled over or in an accident. |

I've driven home drunk many times before; blacked-out drunk. It's amazing how the human mind and body can manage to navigate itself to a location recalled from memory while being unresponsive to anything going on in its environment.
What's the science behind that? |

Because being blacked out just relates to your memory of what you did. You're still functional while you're blacked out. You're not unresponsive to things going on at the time. |

But by your rational, those are the intelligent people. ones who drive drunk for 20-30 years and never get caught by the cops...
Just because you don't get caught, doesn't mean you're intelligent or some kind of really awesome driver when you're drunk. The bottom line is that alcohol impairs your senses. If your senses are impaired, then your motor skills are impaired, which would reduce your skill in operating a motor vehicle. |

| No, my rational(sic), is that stupid people get in accidents whether they're drunk or not. If you have to drive drunk, it's pretty easy to compensate for that slight impairment. |

There's a variation of what unresponsive can mean here.
You asking me for the keys and me not saying anything but starting the car and driving away is unresponsive. Steering a car and not having a clue about where I am, who I am, or what I'm doing is unresponsive. I might be responsive in the sense I'm still alive, but otherwise I'm on what I like to call autopilot. |

| I once drove a bus drunk and thought it was a space shuttle. |

You're not understanding though. When you're "blacked out" it's not as if you're a zombie. You're still fully conscious. You know where you are, who you are, and what you're doing. You just think you didn't in hindsight because you can't remember it. |

Uhm....if you're drunk I have a feeling it's more than just a "slight" impairment.... |
