I seem to have unlocked some secret recently, because most of the times I've been out girls have come up to me and started a conversation. Generally though it's pretty easy in a club, even if you're a spineless wit like me. If I'm getting positive signs that a girl likes me, such as lots of eye contact, smiling or dancing with you, I'll just say "I'd really like to buy you a drink" or something to get them off the loud dancefloor so you can have a conversation. Then there a million things to talk about - the music (if it's a good night), who they're out with, what they do for a living, if they're a student, and so on. If you've got any chemistry with someone it shouldn't be hard to make them laugh and continue a conversation.
For me, 90% of it is having the balls to start the conversation, and to have the balls to ask for their number or whatever when things are going well. It's harder when you aren't on a dancefloor, because it's harder to catch people's attention and know if they're interested - people in bars are usually talking with friends or trying to order a drink.
The other thing is that girls are pack animals - they don't tend to do anything on a night out on their own, and if you get talking to one girl, you can guarantee her friends will be ing worrying about her, texting her, coming to find her, dragging her away. That's still true even if the girl comes up to you and starts the bloody conversation.

dude all i do is smile alot, laugh try not to act like a drunken retard and girls are usually drawn to me. add that to the fact i think fast and have great joke timing and im golden. I'm not the prettiest guy but i find just looking like a well put together guy and being very inviting goes a long way in this world. then again though im one of those people that makes friends instantly with people.
